Description: Special Education Teacher - ELA
Terms of Employment: 10 Month Position (temporary if hired after August 30, 2021)
Reports to: Building Principal
Salary: Current teacher salary schedule
Minimum Qualifications

The employee frequently is required to stand, walk and sit. The employee must occasionally lift an/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Minimum Qualifications
- Meets certification requirements of the State of Delaware for Exceptional Children K-12.
- Cert in ELA preferred
- Strong content knowledge of special education.
- Successful completion of Praxis II exams.
- Teach students with disabilities.
- Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of the students.
- Prepares for classes assigned, and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate superior.
- Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
- Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and –in harmony with the goals—establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects and communicates these objectives to students.
- Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
- Strives to implement by instruction and action the district's mission statement.
- Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides reports as required, as well as notifying parents of student progress when necessary.
- Diagnoses the learning disabilities of students on a regular basis, seeking the assistance of district specialists as required.
- Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
- Performs other duties as assigned

- Favorable Criminal Background Check and Child Abuse Registry Check for the candidate who is offered employment
- Tuberculin Test and physical
- Mandatory Direct Deposit of paycheck
