USA Jet Power

In 2022, to support its fleet of jet engines and to allow it to provide services to other operators and leasing companies, USA Jet Airlines established USA Jet Power. USA Jet Power is 14 CFR Part 145 Air Agency Repair Station located in Oscoda Michigan authorized to perform maintenance, inspection and testing on Pratt and Whitney JT8D turbofan engines that are certificated to operate upon Boeing 727, 737, Douglas DC-9 and MD88 aircraft. USA Jet Power is housed in a state-of-the-art 51,000 sq ft facility that supports its engine repair operations and parts warehousing.

What You’ll Do

A&P Mechanics report directly to Lead Mechanics or Director of Operations while at the USA Jet Main Maintenance Base. At an outstation, A&P Mechanics report to Maintenance Control.

  • Overhaul, maintenance and repair of powerplants, and associated components in accordance with USA Jet manuals, Manufacturer's manuals, Bulletins, and Orders
  • Mechanics/Repairmen will be required to sign for work accomplished
  • The Mechanic, in performing his duties, is required to be constantly alert for defective, worn, or failed parts as well as safe working conditions
  • The Mechanic may be assigned to such housekeeping duties as policing his work area or repair and maintenance of Company property
  • While performing the duties of the job, the employee is frequently required to:
  • Required to report all safety concerns in a timely manner
  • Required to ensure that they and their co-workers are performing their functions in the safest possible manner
  • Required to follow the standards of the Occupational Safety and Health organization with legal authority at the location at which they are working
  • Perform all tasks as assigned by their Lead or Manager

What You’ll Bring

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Must possess a current airframe and powerplant certificate
  • Minimum one (1) year aviation experience and Jet Engine Shop and or one (1) year experience on JT8D type engines (1-17AR, -200 series)
  • A&P Mechanics may be required to have certain valid ratings depending on the type of work they are to perform. Before performing any duties for USA Jet, the mechanic will be properly qualified and authorized
  • Knowledge of all applicable regulatory requirements
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Must be able to remain calm during adverse conditions
  • Must be able to think and react quickly with a sense of urgency to time-sensitive problem situations
  • Detailed organizational skills
  • Experience in Microsoft Windows, Word, Outlook and Excel preferred
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently
  • While performing the duties of the job, the employee is frequently required to:

  • The noise level is usually moderate. Noise level can increase to loud when engine test or module balances are being performed.

Additional Considerations

  • USA Jet Power, LLC. Aircraft/Engine Maintenance and Inspection personnel must be able to travel on short notice to perform maintenance and/or aircraft recovery/repairs as needed. This will require having an overnight bag always packed and being ready to travel with little or no notice, for indefinite periods of time.
  • As part of the above-referenced travel requirements, Maintenance Personnel must have a valid passport within 90 days of hire at USA Jet Airlines, Inc. at the employee’s expense.
  • To be able to perform the job of an Engine Mechanic/Technician, employees are required to possess the minimum tools as outlined on departmental tool list.
  • As part of the job responsibilities of an Engine Mechanic/Technician, new hires will be required to complete the TSA Security Training Program, which is provided by USA Jet Airlines. Once personnel have successfully completed the training program, occasional travel with the USA Jet Airlines, Inc. will be required.
  • Must be able to successfully pass an initial, and random, Drug and Alcohol screening process as required by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and a Fingerprint Based Criminal History Records Check (CHRC) and/or Security Threat Assessment (STA) as required by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).
