Base pay range
As an Accessibility Remediation Specialist Team Lead, contribute expert system analysis, design, code-level changes and documentation to ensure information and communication technology (ICT) products meet the United States Access Board’s Section 508 Standards. Use extensive knowledge of assistive technology tools such as JAWS, and Dragon and of accessible development practices for web, native mobile and Java applications to identify, prototype and document remediation solutions. The remediation specialist will make use of accessibility audit reports to support our government client in enhancing accessibility through remediation support to address accessibility issues, meet Section 508 requirements and improve user experience for people with disabilities.
Scope of Work
The duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position.
- Review Section 508 Compliance Audit Reports for a range of web, native mobile (Android and iOS) and Java applications and identify suitable remediation strategies for addressing issues documented in the reports.
- Prototype, demonstrate and document remediation solutions as required, including advising relevant government stakeholders in implementing solutions.
- Verify implemented remediation solutions to ensure all accessibility barriers have been addressed, using both automated tools and manual testing with assistive technologies.
- Use the client 508 Defect Tracking Tool for remediation work.
- Support conducting and documenting Section 508 compliance audits for ICT products, including web, mobile, and desktop products, as well as multimedia.
- Participate in all phases of the assessments for the software development life cycle, with an emphasis on the planning, analysis, testing, and acceptance phases.
- Provide technical audit support and virtual demonstrations of remediation approaches via platforms like Microsoft Teams and contribute to monthly Audit Show and Tell Summary Reports.
- Prioritize remediation efforts as directed by the government COR, prime PM, TPGi PM, and 508 Leadership, and handle any required escalation in compliance auditing as mandated.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position will work collaboratively with a team of experienced accessibility remediation specialists and accessibility auditors but does not carry direct personnel management responsibilities.
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Must be a US citizen capable of obtaining a public trust clearance.
- Deep knowledge of Section 508 compliance standards and experience with assistive technology tools such as JAWS, Fusion, Dragon, and Color Contrast Analyzer.
- Development experience with the following platforms and technologies: Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) 5, JavaScript, Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), W3C Accessible Rich Internet Application Suite (WAI-ARIA), native mobile application development (iOS and Android), Java.
- Extensive experience in applying accessible development techniques for web, native mobile and Java applications, and in working with SharePoint applications.
- Strong analytical skills to review detailed compliance audits and identify and implement appropriate remediation approaches to address barriers, achieve compliance and improve accessibility.
- Strong communication and presentation skills to effectively share remediation solutions and provide training on implementation.
- Ability to manage multiple audit assignments simultaneously under tight deadlines.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in IT, computer science, or a related field plus 3 years of relevant experience
The intended salary range for the Accessibility Remediation Specialist is between $80,000 and $106,000 per year depending on experience.
