Position Summary: The Account Manager for our Agency Partners will provide prompt, accurate, courteous service to Agency Partner Producers and company personnel. They are responsible for growing and developing talents and insurance knowledge to the highest level possible. They will provide a higher level of support in obtaining, maintaining, expanding and servicing the Agency Partner Producers business through Access Plus. They are also responsible for providing placement to the Agency Partner Producers in handling and processing of new and renewal commercial and personal lines business.

Essential Functions:

  • Review new business applications received from the Agency Partner Producer.
  • Offer options to Agency Partner Producer if standard markets are not available.
  • Service Commercial and Personal Lines accounts as assigned and aid in collections.
  • Collect premiums per established agency procedures.
  • Initiate, screen and prepare endorsement requests from Agency Partner Producer.
  • Prepare and process cancellations when required.
  • Prepare and process all requests for certificates of insurance as per procedure manual.
  • Review all applications, policies, endorsements, and audits for accuracy in rating, typing, coverages, signatures, and input these transactions to generate billing invoices. Ensure that these items are delivered and/or emailed to the Agency Partner Producer.
  • Receive phone calls from Agency Partner Producer and companies regarding insurance, claims, or administrative problems and comply with the request.
  • Setup and prepare new account files per agency procedures.
  • Invoice all premium bearing transactions.
  • Prepare ID cards, evidence of property, certificates, binders, and/or obtain underwriter approval on manuscript endorsements.
  • Maintain suspense items in a timely manner.
  • Keep current on rates, forms and coverage changes through circulars, bulletins, trade publications, seminars, and schools offered.
  • Participate in seminars and classes for skill and knowledge development.
  • Maintain all client activity in the agency automation system (Applied).
  • Service commercial and personal lines accounts in a manner to eliminate gaps in coverage, thus reducing our E&O exposures.
  • Be familiar with and follow agency E&O guidelines.
  • Prioritize workload and/or request assistance as required.
  • Keep Agency Partner Producer fully informed of all-important activities on their accounts.
  • Coordinate expirations with Agency Partner Producer to obtain renewal and/or new business information. Maintain expiration control log.
  • Assist in marketing new and renewal business, determine premiums, and maintain underwriting and marketing information by carrier.
  • Other duties as directed by executive management.


Skills & Abilities:

  • Must be a self-starter, imaginative and creative with good written and oral communication skills.
  • Should have a thorough understanding of commercial lines underwriting and coverages.
  • Must fully understand SIA Values, Mission, Sales System, and Strategic 3D System.
  • Must have working knowledge of computer systems and operations including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Must have working knowledge of the comparative rater programs utilized for both personal and commercial lines.


Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, Required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree, Preferred.
  • Two years’ experience in a similar position, Preferred.
  • NC Property and Casualty Insurance License, Required.
  • Professional Designation Preferred.
