Summary:

Under the general supervision of the VP/Accounting Manager, this position independently performs a wide variety of general or specialized accounting functions, analysis and reporting requiring the application of accounting principles and practices.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities includes the following. Other duties may be assigned. 


Assists in daily review of financial activities, financial position, and producing monthly board reports; and supports the accounts payable function.


Reconciles and/or reviews accounts and statements:

  •  Freddie Mac Accounts
  •  Prepaid Accounts
  •  Monthly internal account bank statements
  •  Federal Reserve Account
  •  Other correspondent bank accounts
  •  Other General Ledger Accounts


Reports and remits to Freddie Mac.


Opens and closes brokered CD’s.


Completes entries for Federal Home Loan Bank (FHLB) advances and interest payments.


Assists with the preparation of the quarterly Call Reports. Prepares reports for management, directors, and shareholders.


Researches questions and inquiries thoroughly in an effort to resolve or refer questions for timely resolution.


Assists with payroll accounting functions.


Assists with a variety of corporate documents including lease documents, corporate insurance policies, financial reports, etc.


Assists with preparation of monthly ALCO report package.


Prepares reports as assigned including spreadsheets.


Maintains information and records to ensure ongoing efficiency and accuracy of facts.


Performs general clerical support functions for the department.


Performs special projects as assigned; completes a variety of analyses and studies as assigned.


Adheres to all State and Federal Banking Regulations


Acts as a backup in the absence of any Accounting Specialist or the VP/ Accounting Manager.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience                   

Two or more years related experience in accounting, banking preferred; associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field preferred but not required. 


Language Skills                    

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.


Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.


Reasoning Ability                    

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.


Computer Skills                      

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
