Job Title: Accountant I

Location: Hybrid - San Francisco, CA 94107 - In Office on Wednesdays, the rest of the week is remote

Duration: 12 months

PR: $35.00/hr on W2

Description

Hours: 9am to 6pm pacific, there may be flexibility once they are working independently

Is specific industry experience required?

Advertising media industry experience is a plus

The role will be working with contracts in media, prefer advertising media industry experience. 2+ years in Account with a completed BA/BS degree.

Digital ad sales, they will review contracts and compare to the order set up that the sales teams enter into the sales systems, making sure orders are entered correctly and meeting the requirements defined for revenue recognition, they will work with sales and support team to ensure these contracts are set up correctly.

At Month end they will likely do journal entries, balancing reconciliations.

We will review their history in working with revenue and media industry as highly preferred.

What are the TOP Critical Skills or Must Haves skills a candidate should have on their resume in order to be considered?

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 2+ years accounting experience
  • Oracle R12 or major ERP experience
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills (vLookup, pivot tables, etc.)
  • Ability to organize and prioritize duties
  • Ability to effectively manage time and meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to work in a fast paced and changing environment
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team

Nice To Have

  • Advertising media industry experience is a plus
  • Operative One and Salesforce experience a plus
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Accuracy and high attention to detail

Deal Breakers?

If candidates don’t have revenue experience, then we can consider other types of experience, however AP or collections type experience is not really relevant for this role. Should be capable of communicating effectively with sales teams, as well as be a part of a big team and be a team player.

Your Day-to-Day

  • Ensure revenue recognition is booked accurately, timely, and in compliance with SOX controls and GAAP standards
  • Month-end close activities for revenue recognition including but not limited to journal entries, revenue calculations and accruals
  • Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations
  • Work with Sales and Client Services teams to ensure the proper setup of sales orders
  • Research and respond to inquiries from Sales and Client Service teams on revenue variances related to media orders
  • Resolve the sales order data ingest exceptions and ensure the order details are accurately ingested into Oracle for revenue recognition
  • Process delivery adjustments for media ad orders
  • Work closely with Sales and Client Service teams for ad hoc training and process improvements
  • Provide ongoing guidance to the Sales team and business operations on revenue recognition issues, such as identifying and addressing the cause of any adverse revenue recognition impact
  • Assist with quarterly SOX audits, internal audit, and external audit requests
  • Participate in ad-hoc revenue analysis and accounting projects as needed
