Accounting Manager


$150-180k plus 15% bonus


Portland, OR


Bell & Associates has been engaged to help our client find their next Accounting Manager. The Accounting Manager will manage and lead the accounts payable (AP) and receivable (AR) team. The role will also be responsible for overseeing cash management activities to ensure the financial stability and efficiency of the organization. The ideal candidate is a driven problem solver, able to build and develop a team while being able to work independently and juggle multiple priorities to meet monthly deadlines.


Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for accurate and timely month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close procedures for certain key balance sheet and income statement accounts (including preparing and/or reviewing journal entries and account reconciliations)
  • Manage worldwide banking structure, including owning international bank funding and timing distribution of international payroll and creditor payments
  • Develop and ensure robust internal controls around cash, reporting, and regulatory compliance. Focus areas include banking and fraud prevention
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the AR and AP teams to ensure high performance and professional growth
  • Oversee the AR process to ensure timely and accurate invoicing, collections, and cash application
  • Monitor accounts receivable aging reports and implement strategies to reduce outstanding balances
  • Resolve customer billing issues and discrepancies in a timely manner
  • Put together AR reserve analysis quarterly
  • Supervise the AP process to ensure timely and accurate processing of invoices, payment, and expense reports
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures related to disbursements
  • Monitor daily cash positions
  • Perform weekly cash forecast based on input from our finance team
  • Track actual cash changes to forecast and report this to management
  • Work with payroll team to book and post journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Work closely with the Company’s auditors and other service providers regarding AR, AP, and payroll
  • Manage accounting for sales taxes and ensure all taxes are paid timely


Requirements

  • Bachelor’s in Accounting or related field
  • 3+ years related accounting experience required, including proven managerial experience
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Exposure and ability to write technical accounting memo’s
  • Strong knowledge of cash management practices
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to continually reassess and identify process improvements, flexible mindset
  • Demonstrates attention to detail and excellent organization skills
  • Experience with Tier 1 ERP systems, SAP experience preferred
  • Proficient with MS Office tools
  • Ability to work in a diverse team environment
