Accounting Manager

Position Summary

The Accounting Manager will be responsible for a wide variety of accounting responsibilities, primarily overseeing our contract and clinical trial accruals and procure-to-pay workflow. The position requires that the candidate be a hands-on professional with a strong understanding of the application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial reporting. We are looking for someone with strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with the desire and ability to maintain strong SOX-compliant processes to join our team. This position reports to the Controller.

Responsibilities

• Analyze executed and amended contracts for appropriate accounting treatment to calculate accurate expense recognition and monthly accruals.
• Partner with internal stakeholders to calculate contract and clinical trial accruals.
• Responsible for other month-end close processes, including preparing and posting journal entries and maintaining balance sheet reconciliations, in an accurate and timely manner.
• Perform income statement review to identify any necessary adjustments and provide explanations for significant fluctuations.
• Manage operational accounting of new complex arrangements or transactions (i.e., potential license or collaboration agreements, grant funding, or other arrangements).
• Oversee Accounts Payable function, including managing the resolution of any vendor issues.
• Manage external auditors regarding quarterly review and annual audit procedures.
• Assist in system implementation projects to streamline processes.
• Assist with other ad hoc projects as needed.
  
  

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a related field
• At least 5 – 8 years’ experience in accounting
• Advanced experience with Microsoft Excel
• Strong organization and time management skills
• A high attention to detail
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently, managing multiple priorities to meet deadlines
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP, including accrual-based accounting
• CPA or CPA track
• Public accounting experience
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience preparing or reviewing clinical trial accruals strongly preferred
• Experience working in a Sarbanes-Oxley compliant control environment
• NetSuite experience preferred

Fully Remote (US)

Annual Base Salary Range

$110,000 - $145,000

The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the years of relevant industry experience, education, and skills/abilities.
