JOB TITLE: Accounting Manager

POSITION SUMMARY: The Accounting Manager oversees the month-end close process. They oversee the accounting department functions with a focus on ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of financial statements and reporting. The Accounting Manager will supervise a team and provide guidance and mentorship.

REPORTS TO: Controller

REPORTS: 2-4

SALARY: $105,000-$115,000/year + 7% bonus eligibility

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

  • Oversee and manage the general accounting functions of the company including, but not limited to general ledger; and corporate, state and local taxes
  • Work closely with accounts payable, accounts receivable and cost accounting.
  • Help with quarterly and year-end financial audit activities and oversee the company’s internal controls framework
  • Oversee the monthly close process, ensuring month end close is timely and accurate including booking and approving journal entries and reviewing GL details for accuracy
  • Ensure all balance sheet accounts are reconciled timely as indicated in the SOP
  • Manage revenue recognition for the companies, including 3rd party advanced ordering platform revenue and manage the applicable receivables; and reconcile Direct To Consumer (Shopify) transactions
  • Work with Cost Accountant to review, analyze, reconcile, and record fiscal period inventory, analyzing impact to COGS
  • Present Bakeries P&Ls and balance sheets to the Controller and CFO as part of the close, including period over period analysis
  • Work closely with finance team to ensure timely and accurate financial analysis and reports are completed
  • Assist with all audits (financial, third party, and other audits)
  • Prepare monthly financial statements for internal use
  • Complete transactional tasks as assigned, including AMEX transactions, Sales uploads, and other transactions
  • Oversee reconciliations of intercompany accounts
  • Manage and complete the multi-state sales tax returns for all companies and ensure the company is compliant with the state requirements, including review of 3rd party filings (ie. Avalara)
  • File Other state business tax returns
  • Process weekly electronic payment
  • Assist Controller in reviewing current processes and company policies and recommend improvements, if applicable
  • Perform ad hoc assignments when needed


Skills And Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree / master’s degree in accounting, Finance, or relevant field
  • CPA/CMA certification (or close to completing)
  • 4-5 years of experience in full function accounting role
  • 6 years industry, public accounting experience
  • Experience managing direct reports
  • Experience with Payroll compliance
  • Strong Excel skills with ability to build reports and models
  • F&B Retail, Direct to Consumer and CPG experience
  • NetSuite experience is a plus
  • Ability to work independently, with a team and cross-functionally in a fast-paced, high-volume environment that emphasizes accuracy and timeliness
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Technical knowledge of GAAP
  • Willingness to jump in and help when needed
  • Experience in implementing process and change agent in organization
  • Be unafraid to contribute ideas and spark inspiration and action
  • Be entrepreneurial in spirit
  • Proven ability to be nimble, dynamic, and able to adjust to changing business needs

  • Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity.
  • Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, coworkers, and management.
  • Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception.
  • Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment.
  • Position requires standing and walking for a period of 3-5 hours without a rest break.
  • Occasional moderate to heavy lifting and carrying, bending, and reaching overhead may be required.
  • Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment


Salary Range

$105,000—$115,000 USD
