Accounting Manager

SME&U, a niche staffing firm specializing in accounting and finance roles, has partnered with one of our top clients to identify a strong accounting manager that will report into the Senior Director of Finance, and manage the month end close process while managing a team of Senior Accountants.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee daily operations of the accounting department, general ledger, and payroll.
• Manage and mentor a team of accounting professionals, providing guidance and support to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
• Prepare and review financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements.
• Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard company assets.
• Coordinate the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts, and report variances.
• Analyze financial data and provide insights to senior management to support decision-making.
• Collaborate with external auditors to ensure successful audit results and compliance.
• Drive process improvements and system enhancements to increase the efficiency of the accounting function.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA preferred.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 1 year in a management role.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and tax regulations.
• Experience with accounting software and ERP systems; proficiency in Netsuite, Intacct, or other mainframe ERP preferred
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
