Client is seeking an Accounting Manager for this mid-sized Life & Annuity carrier that is planning to go public. The Scope
The Accounting Manager will report to the Director of Accounting and will play a vital role in preparing the carrier for its public offering. They will join a Finance team that oversees strategic capital deployment, financial reporting, accounting policy, tax, treasury, audit, rating agency processes, as well as finance board and audit committee presentations. The Responsibilities
Assist with the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including activities related to the general ledger, journals, and accounts
Help to enhance controls in our newly implemented Oracle Cloud general ledger system
Perform cash management reconciliations for various banks and sources of funds
Develop financial reports and perform daily submissions of accounts payable items
Other responsibilities include contributing to management inquiries, audits, budgets, and intercompany settlements. The General Accounting Manager will also update and maintain disbursement procedures and controls and support the needs of MAR and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) control implementation and testing. They will carry out their duties in compliance with all state and federal regulations and guidelines. The General Accounting Manager will manage aspects of the General Accounting function and may have supervisory responsibilities in the future.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate
Minimum of 5 years of experience in GAAP and Statutory insurance accounting from the Life Insurance industry
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
CPA designation
Highly proficient in Excel and Microsoft Office tools
Possess effective communication and relationship building skills with both internal and external business partners.
