Job Description

CFO Hub is seeking an Accounting Manager for a client in beautiful San Diego. The position is with this client and not with CFO Hub. Our client is in the biotechnology industry and is looking for a full-time, on-site accounting manager to manage their full-cycle accounting functions.

Position: Accounting Manager

Major Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Financial Analysis and Reporting:
  • Analyze financial packages and variance analysis reports against budget and prior periods.
  • Prepare and consolidate budgets and forecasts for each entity.
  • Assist in preparing capital plans, cash flow projections, P&L forecasts, and Board presentations.
  • Financial Close, Daily Accounting Transactions and Consolidation:
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly close and consolidation processes, including recording consolidating entries, expenses accrual, amortization, cost allocation, and reconciling intercompany and subsidiary transactions.
  • Prepare consolidated schedules for quarterly reviews and annual audits, including certain financial statement footnotes.
  • Prepare intercompany transactions on a monthly basis.
  • Review and approve invoices daily.
  • Perform daily transactions and payment process
  • Monitor and ensure the bank balance and prepare the cash flow projection for the cash replenishment periodically.
  • Assist in the annual financial audit and work closely with external auditors.
  • Payroll and Taxation:
  • Perform the payroll process, generating & related journals, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Review and file payroll-related taxes, W-2, ACA reporting, benefit, VOE, 401K, WC & Stock taxes.
  • Ensure timely and accurate filing of tax returns, such as annual tax returns, 1099, property tax, sales/use tax, form 5500, etc.
  • ERP Systems and Accounting Procedures:
  • Maintain the chart of accounts, departments, and project codes in the ERP system.
  • Assist in accounting and financial reporting system implementation and internal
  • procedure setup.
  • Ensure the proper functioning and continuous improvement of the ERP systems.
  • Vendor Management and Insurance:
  • Maintain vendor information and documents in the ERP system.
  • Assist in reviewing contracts and renewing business insurance as needed.
  • Provide credit application information to vendors.
  • Compliance and Policy:
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
  • Establish and update company operation and accounting policies as needed.
  • Team Leadership:
  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing guidance and support in their professional development.
  • Promote a positive and collaborative work environment within the finance team.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and facilitate ongoing training.
  • Additional Responsibilities:
  • Provide support in analyzing and reporting on clinical operation spend and related contract variances.
  • Support equity financing and IPO processes, if applicable.
  • Handle other related duties as necessary or assigned.

Education And Experience

  • BS degree in Accounting or Finance with a minimum of 5-8 years of relevant experience.
  • CPA or MBA preferred
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical industry or other life science businesses is highly desired
  • Previous experience in a publicly held company is advantageous.
  • Experience in ERP and financial reporting system and implementation, NetSuite preferred
  • Prior experience in a supervisory or managerial accounting role is required.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Strong understanding of accounting theory, US GAAP, and IFRS.
  • Highly detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to meet assigned deadlines.
  • Proficient in tax preparation and compliance.
  • Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and computer skills.
  • Ability to adapt to new situations and work in a fast-paced environment with a sense of

urgency.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle stress effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
