Base pay range
The Actuarial Analyst will analyze various data sets and provide insights, including the identification, investigation and resolution of data anomalies and reporting discrepancies. This may involve communicating with insurance carriers for corrections and clarification and overseeing reporting edits.
The Actuarial Analyst will also prepare ratemaking and research related exhibits and presentations, improve efficiency of ratemaking procedures, support research projects by extracting and analyzing data, analyze pricing programs and cost changes, and handle complicated telephone, email and written inquires from customers/carriers. Further, the Actuarial Analyst will assist senior staff as required as well as assist in the training of junior staff members, as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Preparation of ratemaking files and exhibits in NYCIRB filings
- Identifying and analyzing data anomalies and working with data personnel to resolve them
- Supporting research projects by extracting data, creating exhibits, and providing analysis of the results
- Helping advance actuarial methods employed by the department
- Handling technical phone, email and written inquiries from various parties
- Analyzing pricing program and changes in the system
- Assist senior staff as required to accomplish divisional goals
- Assist in the training of junior staff members, as needed
- Other duties as assigned and deemed necessary by management
- Some actuarial or workers’ compensation actuarial experience preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word
- Familiarity with SAS or other programming languages preferred.
- Data and Statistics analysis skills are a must, as well as attention to detail
- Familiarity with Statistical Models
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- College graduate with major in mathematics, statistics or related field of study
- Completion of at least 2 Casualty Actuarial Society Examinations

SALARY RANGE:
- $68,000 - $80,000
