Adjunct Position: Visual Merchandising and Display
Overall Summary
Responsible for setting up course and course material, teaching, and assurance of learning in connection with coursework assigned. Assisting students succeed in mastering course material.
Responsibilities
All adjunct faculty are required to acquire an LIU email address and to use this as the email address on record for students and University personnel use.

From time-to –time, adjunct faculty are required to undergo training to maintain competency in teaching or compliance with government regulations
Adjunct faculty must be prepared to teach in person or online as needed, and to maintain technical know-how in order to fulfill job duties optimally.
Course
FM 50 – Visual Merchandising and Display
We are seeking an adjunct to teach our Visual Merchandising and Display course. This course will uncover the many techniques used in the visual merchandising industry. Institutional and abstract concepts will be discussed and practiced. Digital retailing, “Pop Up” shops and brick-and-mortar will be explored. Weekly projects and presentations on window prep and store design will be integrated into the coursework. A hands-on approach is utilized whereby students design and construct interior displays. Our onsite student-run boutique, The Student Body Collective, can serve as an experiential learning site for the students. Display skills and technical instructions are presented weekly. The language of the retail industry will also be used to explain and familiarize each student with this discipline. The class runs twice a week on our Post campus in Brookville during our Spring semester (mid-January - early May 2025).
Salary - $1,000-$1,350 per credit

Responsibilities
- Prepare and communicate contents of syllabus to students, as a foundation of student-teacher course contract.
- Make recommendations for required text, as necessary.
- Teach and review with students materials required for them to meet learning objectives in a manner to ensure learning.
- Participate in the academic program's learning outcomes assessment activities. Measure students learning outcomes, analyze and report weaknesses in learning and make curricular and/or pedagogical changes to improve learning.
- Prepare, arrange and assess pedagogical projects, exams, and experiential learning.
- Be available during faculty office hours to meet with students and address concerns, provide extra help, assist with career goals, help find internships/jobs, etc.
- Submit required paperwork in a timely manner including but limited to syllabi (must be made available two week prior to start of semester and must be in required LIU format), final grades (must be submitted online within 24 hours after close of semester), marked exams, change of grades, etc.
- Fulfil in a timely manner, University requests in connection with data collecting for accreditation, data accumulation purposes, and government compliance including but not limited to submitting current CVs, completing AACSB survey (which is distributed at the start of each term that you teach), sexual harassment training and the like.
- Other duties as assigned within scope of job.
