Base pay range
Teaching strategies will be incorporated to foster student learning, success and retention. Adjunct faculty will work with other faculty in support of curricula improvement as appropriate to promote students' success and mastery of course and program competencies. The person in this position will plan, organize and teach classes as assigned. Flexible hours, days and assigned campus location may vary due to enrollment.
Required Qualifications
Option 1
Master’s degree (M.A, M.S., M.F.A., or M. Arch) in:
- Architecture
- Interior Architecture
- Interior Design
Master’s degree or higher with at least 18 graduate hours in the following qualifying fields:
- Architecture
- Built Environment
- Commercial Design
- Design History and Theory
- Historic Preservation
- Human Environmental Design
- Interior Architecture
- Interior Design
- Sustainable Design Studies
- Themed Entertainment
- Other related design disciplines
AND
Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or closely-related field
AND
Currently NCIDQ certified or licensed as an Interior Designer in any U.S. state territory
OR
Terminal Degree Qualifications
Minimum of eight years of professional practice experience
- PhD in Interior Design
- Master of Architecture (M. Arch.)
- Master of Interior Design
Master’s degree in Interior Design or Architecture (M.A., M.S., M.F.A.) or related with a major, concentration, specialization or emphasis in Interior Design (See Appendix A: IDEC Position Paper)
AND
Currently licensed as an Interior Designer in any U.S. state or territory
For All Options
- NCIDQ certified desired (for Interior Designers only)
- Teaching experience desired.
- Professional registration or licensure desired.
- Professional practice experience in field desired.
- Studio courses taught by faculty with professional degree in Interior Design as defined by CIDA
- A personal and professional commitment to creating an atmosphere of quality instruction at SSC.
- English reading, writing and speaking skills at the native level of fluency.
- Ability to utilize technology and innovative pedagogy to enhance teaching and learning.
- Understanding of and commitment to working with a diverse student population in a multicultural environment.
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to exhibit a professional, courteous demeanor.
Work Environment And Special Considerations
- Works in a classroom/lab setting and/or online or a distance remote virtual learning environment.
- Flexible hours, days and assigned campus location may vary due to enrollment.
- Maintains industry-driven curriculum following the CIDA and state mandated curriculum framework implemented by department.
- Works with other faculty in support of curricula improvements as appropriate to promote students' success and mastery of course and program competencies.

This is a Pool Position - Part-time faculty positions are filled based on enrollment. While a posting may exist on our website, there may or may not be a need at this time; however, submitted applications remain active for one academic year and are available for the Department Dean to review on an ongoing basis. Finalists and individuals recommended for employment at Seminole State College may be subject to background investigations and fingerprinting in compliance with Florida Statute 1001.64; and Seminole State College Policy 1.020; 2.020. Criminal background checks and fingerprinting will be conducted for all new employees, and for rehired employees who have had a break in service for one year or more.
