Role Description
This is a part-time role of Adjunct Faculty for Foundations of Composition I, the first semester in the first-year writing sequence. We specifically need someone to teach the following two in-person sections for Fall 2024:
MW 9:30-10:45 am
MW 11 am-12:15pm
The semester starts 09/03/2024 and ends 12/19/2024.
The candidate should be comfortable teaching from a common syllabus and facilitating instruction of both academic and public writing. The standardized syllabus approaches student learning from a growth standpoint. The candidate should have experience responding to student drafts and be familiar with diversity, equity, and inclusion teaching approaches. Your day-to-day tasks will include developing lesson plans to teach the standardized syllabus, providing feedback on and evaluating student writing, and answering student emails. Pay is dependent on highest level of academic achievement, ranging from $2100-$2570 per course.
Qualifications
A Master's degree in English, Creative Writing, Rhetoric and Composition or a related field
Previous experience teaching writing at the college level preferred
Previous experience using learning management systems (LMS) preferred
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work effectively in a diverse learning environment
Flexibility and adaptability to meet the needs of students
Commitment to promoting an inclusive and supportive learning environment
