Job Title: Human Resources Generalist

Management: Non-Exempt

Department: Administration

Reports To: Operations Manager

The Human Resources Generalist will be responsible for performing a variety of HR-related duties and will work closely with the Operations Manager. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment, and compliance with employment laws.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties & Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned)

  • Coordinate functions with emphasis on HR/Payroll workflow.
  • Assist with the recruitment process by posting job ads, conducting initial interviews, coordinating with hiring managers, and managing the onboarding process for new hires.
  • Process new hire documentation, including I-9s, background checks, and drug testing, while maintaining and updating I-9 records as needed.
  • Provide day-to-day coaching and counseling to managers on employee issues, including disciplinary actions and terminations as needed.
  • Maintain and manage HR information systems, ensuring that employee records are accurate and up-to-date.
  • Draft and distribute office communications including memos, letters, and other notices.
  • Maintain employee bulletin boards.
  • Organize and process weekly payroll via DayForce and other tools as needed.
  • Respond to internal auditing requests regarding HR and Payroll records.
  • Assist in the administration of employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other perks. Respond to employee inquiries regarding benefits and communicate with the benefits providers as needed.
  • Conduct annual open enrollment meetings.
  • Administer FMLA/disability requests and time-tracking.
  • Handle first report of injury and workers' compensation claim administration.
  • Maintain OSHA recordkeeping.
  • Create and maintain a Safety Committee which performs facility walkthrough audits.
  • Assist with corporate employee surveys. Setup focus group meetings, write progress reports and create presentations for employees to review.
  • Monthly Petty Cash Reconciliation.
  • Maintain employee attendance points system.
  • Assist in organizing and promoting employee engagement activities to foster a positive work environment.
  • Respond to unemployment claims and employment verification requests.
  • Create, maintain, and provide employee training courses.
  • Complete reports for management as requested.
  • Understanding of federal, state, and local labor laws.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

Requirements/Experience

  • Bachelor Degree and minimum 3 years HR experience.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication
  • Required Bi-lingual in Spanish
  • Proficiency in Outlook, MS Office Suite. Emphasis in Excel.
  • Strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to perform at a high level of effectiveness, flexibility, independence and initiative on multiple tasks without supervision
  • Experience with Human Resource and Payroll systems.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Experience with employee relations.


Physical Demands

  • Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require standing and walking for up to 10% of the time.


Work Environment

  • Normal Office environment. The working environment is generally favorable. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available.
