BroadFutures is looking to hire an Advancement and Communications Intern to support the organization's Advancement and Marketing Communications Department. Role Details

Hours: 20 hours a week 

Reports to: Advancement Director 

Schedule: Hybrid - Washington, DC-based

Compensation: $17.50 an hour or course credit

Internship Timeline: August 27th - December 31st, 2024


Role Responsibilities

Marketing Communications 

  • Work with the Advancement Director to develop monthly communications plans 
  • Manage the organization’s communications calendar.
  • Create original social media content consistent with organization branding and post according to the communications calendar.
  • Draft the monthly newsletter and other communications in Mailchimp 
  • Collaborate with the Programs Team to source community content including intern and employer partner testimonials for social media and the newsletter 
  • Respond to comments and DMs on social media platforms to engage with our audience
  • Brainstorm and research ideas for original content 
  • Make occasional website updates when information needs to be updated 


Advancement

  • Support the Advancement Director with logistical planning and execution of the organization’s fall gala in October, including, but not limited to:
  • Work with our graphic designer and team to contribute to and proof all marketing collateral
  • Creating name tags, supporting intern speaker recruitment and speech development
  • Manage the collection of sponsor names and logos for the Fall gala 
  • Write and send weekly donor acknowledgement emails and sponsorship invoices
  • Must be available to support the Annual Gala in person in Washington, DC on October 19th, 2024.


Experience

  • Database experience - ideally donor database
  • Relevant media, communications, or marketing skills/knowledge
  • Meta Business Suite, Instagram, LinkedIn, X, and Facebook, preferred
  • Marketing tools such as Canva and Mailchimp or other similar mass mailing platforms
  • Web development and/or back end web editing and updating. Familiarity with WordPress is a plus
