Orrick currently has an excellent opportunity for an AI & Innovation Project Manager. This position could be based in any of our U.S. offices (Austin; Chicago; Boston; Houston; Los Angeles; New York; Menlo Park; Orange County; Portland; Sacramento; San Francisco; Santa Monica; Seattle; Washington DC; or Wheeling, WV) and consideration given for 100% remote US locations.
The AI & Innovation Project Manager, as part of Orrick Labs and in collaboration with the Chief Innovation Officer, Global Head of Practice Innovation, and Chief Digital Technology & Data Officer, will spearhead the advancement of AI and innovation across the firm. This role involves delivering innovative solutions, enhancing legal service delivery through AI, streamlining workflows, and keeping abreast of market trends. The manager will consult with attorneys and practice groups to champion practice efficiencies and lead the development and implementation of training on new resources and technology. An expert understanding of firm technologies, legal workflows, and a commitment to Orrick's client service standards and core values are paramount.
Responsibilities:
- Drive AI and innovation projects, scoping, defining, and managing initiatives that align with strategic goals.
- Serve as the project manager and primary contact for innovation and AI-related endeavors.
- Monitor and analyze legal technology and AI market trends to identify integration opportunities and maintain the firm's competitive edge.
- Evaluate new products and technologies, coordinating pilot programs and proof of concept tests for AI-specific technologies.
- Facilitate collaboration among attorneys, management, and cross-functional teams to promote AI adoption and showcase success stories.
- Develop comprehensive roadmaps for AI integration, outlining short- and long-term visions.
- Consult with practice groups to identify and implement new technologies and improve resource usage and workflows.
- Produce marketing materials, industry submissions, and client-facing presentations.
- Design and conduct training on legal services resources and technology, with a focus on AI and innovation.
- Support the growth and development of the firm's case management system and other innovation databases and platforms.
- Engage proactively across the firm to promote innovation and identify opportunities for technological problem-solving.
Professional Experience:
- Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university; four to eight years' experience in the legal environment with direct knowledge of legal service workflows. Or equivalent work experience.
- A Juris Doctorate (J.D.) or equivalent is preferred.
- In-depth understanding of legal processes, workflows, the AI and legal technology market.
- Proven ability to solve practical problems, analyze data, develop use cases, and create functional requirements for systems and tools.
- Independent work ethic with excellent judgment, strong analytic, project management, and research skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills, and the ability to present complex ideas effectively.

Compensation and Benefits
The expected salary range for this position is:
- California Major Markets* $110,000.00 - $175,000.00
- New York City $125,000.00 - $175,000.00
- National $100,000.00 - $125,000.00
* California Major Markets includes San Francisco, Silicon Valley, Los Angeles, Orange County, Santa Monica. All other California locations fall within National range.
Orrick is committed to providing a comprehensive, competitive, and thoughtful total compensation package to our attorneys and staff, wherever they work. This compensation and benefits information is based on the Orrick’s estimate as of the date of publication and may be modified in the future. The level of pay within the range will depend on a variety of job-related factors that may include, but not limited to, qualifications, relevant experience or education, particular skills or expertise, geography. Other compensation may include an annual discretionary merit bonus, which would be determined by Firm and individual performance.
