We are hiring Analytical Chemist for one of our clients in Ewing, NJ.

Job Description

OBJECTIVE: Independently perform radiochemistry analysis for food, water, and other matrices within Radiochemistry Lab.

  • Perform sample preparatory procedures associated with radiochemical analyses for food, water, and other samples by a variety of radiation detection instruments.
  • Perform calibration, operation, and maintenance for all instruments, including gas flow proportional counter, liquid scintillation, gamma spectrometry, and/or alpha spectrometry.
  • Conduct data calculating, reviewing, reporting through the Environmental and Chemical Laboratory Service (ECLS)’s Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), Element.
  • Perform cross-training of other analysts in the Radiochemistry Lab on both new and existing methods and instrumentation as time allows.
  • Perform various activities associated with Quality Assurance (QA) and Laboratory Safety.
  • Review and revise Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for Radiochemistry Lab methods. Review and comment on Radioanalytical Services Quality Manual and ECLS Quality Manual.
  • Place supply purchase requests and justifications. Receive their corresponding quotes from vendors. Maintain an inventory of the consumable supplies needed to conduct all Radiochemistry Lab methods. Requests quotes from vendors, and orders supplies as needed.
  • Document standard/reagent preparation if logbooks and/or LIMS as required.

Education Required

  • B.S. Degree in Chemistry or other appropriate physical, environmental science disciplines. A degree in Radiochemistry/Nuclear Sciences is preferred.

Experience Required

  • One (1) year of experience in inorganic chemical analysis with metals, trace elements, and/or radionuclides
  • A M.S. in natural sciences may be substituted for one year of experience.

Work Hours

  • 8:00 a.m.–4:00 pm
  • Lunch: 1 hour (unpaid)

Payrate: $24/hour on W2
