This position serves our partners at the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT). MNIT MnDOT supports an agency with technology integrated into all areas of business. From business intelligence and solutions for critical transportation infrastructure to planning and operating a safe, efficient, and reliable multimodal transportation system, the team connects people and markets across Minnesota.
MNIT’s IT Trainee Program is designed to train individuals for approximately six (6) months on the skills required to succeed in a permanent position with us. Upon successfully passing the training requirements, the Trainees are moved into a permanent Information Technology Specialist 1 role where they will utilize the skills they have developed and continue to learn and grow into the role.
As a Trainee with the Application Security Delivery group at Minnesota IT Services partnering with the Department of Transportation (MNIT DOT), your training program will consist of introductory sessions in Information Technology topics including:
Professionalism, Teamwork, and Communications
Minnesota IT Services (MNIT) Knowledge, Procedures, Standards & Policies
General Technical Skills
Release Management Skills
Project Management Skills
MnDOT Application Portfolio Knowledge
This position is currently eligible for full-time telework:
Telework for Minnesota IT Services allows an employee to perform work from a telework location and an employee may be required to be in the office based on business needs and other dependencies in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Only candidates located in Minnesota and bordering states (Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, or Wisconsin) are telework eligible.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must clearly demonstrate all of the following qualifications in their resume:
Critical thinking and analytical skills sufficient to complete program modules.
Proficient with computers and programs including word processing, spreadsheets, internet, and email.
Ability to communicate effectively in a variety of formats with internal and external customers.
Customer service skills that include active listening, empathy, and problem-solving.
Preferred Qualifications
Formal IT training (e.g., such as CompTIA A+, MTA, etc.).
Certifications or completed coursework in IT Infrastructure.
Certifications or completed coursework in Application Development.
Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
