NeoSystems is seeking an intermediate level position within the IT operations team to provide application and database support. The Applications and DB Analyst is responsible for supporting our clients’ hosted applications and computer systems including periodic updates and troubleshooting through triage, investigation, communication, and reporting. They will perform investigations into potential issues and alarms based on system and database performance from a wide range of monitoring tools. They will provide recommendations on configuration best practices and look for opportunities to improve the hosted applications and database performance.
Responsibilities
Provide end user support for applications (primarily Deltek Costpoint and T&E)
Provide technical assistance and training to system users.
Diagnose application problems and take remedial actions or recommend procedural changes.
Provide support to staff and customers by responding and following-up on internal and external customer support issues.
Maintains support tickets in ConnectWise.
Responsible for escalating trouble tickets, as needed.
Estimating database size based on current and projected growth requirements.
Creating database backup and recovery plans.
Performing database startup, shutdown, back-up, and recovery.
Writing scripts to monitor and generate alerts on usage of tablespaces, and validity of objects.
Monitoring growth of tablespaces, adding and removing datafiles.
Analyzing queries for performance and performing query database tune up to meet performance objectives.
Managing schemas, users, roles and permissions at database and object level.
Documenting and applying STIGS, CPU and Oracle DBMS patches.
Implementing and monitoring database administration best practices.
Creating and maintaining database documentation and related project deliverables.
Performing export and import of individual tables, schemas, or full database refresh as required.
Working collaboratively by assisting and coaching team members.
Implementing table level encryption.
Write/tune dynamic PL/SQL and complex stored procedures.
Database deployment of upgrades and patch releases.
Requirements
3-5 years’ experience with the Deltek application suite, i.e. Costpoint and Time & Expense.
Working knowledge of MS SQL Server.
Experience with database health (e.g. monitoring, proactive and reactive responses).
Skills
Experience with supporting and maintaining MS SQL Server and Oracle Databases preferred.
Knowledge of networked personal computers and server operating systems.
Strong verbal and written communications skills required; must effectively communicate the technical findings or recommendations to a non-technical audience; ability to produce concise and accurate written documentation.
Track record of excellence with problem resolution through independent troubleshooting and teamwork.
Develop and maintain effective working relationships; applies courtesy, tact and discretion; uses interpersonal skills to build alliances to achieve objectives.
