About Our Team

The Knowledge Graph (KG) team at eBay plays a pivotal role in eBay's core business, spanning various application domains such as search retrieval, recommendation, and selling. Our team comprises experts in applied research, data, and software engineering, fostering a culture of rapid innovation with no shortage of challenges for motivated individuals.

Position: Applied Researcher

Responsibilities

  • Develop machine learning models and data pipelines to construct Knowledge Graphs, annotate KG entities and intents to enrich search queries, and inventory contents
  • Build and support applications to enhance search retrieval, recommendation, relevance and ranking
  • Collaborate with operations team to ensure the quality of any human-labeled data required
  • Carefully measure your output and impact in order to learn and improve over time
  • Help define and refine project scopes, goals, and metrics
  • Engage with the eBay Science community promote standard scientific methodologies and processes in your field


Requirements

  • MS/PhD in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or equivalent field
  • Strong programming skills in Java and Python
  • Experience with one or more of the following: classification, regression, NLP, clustering, Deep Learning / Neural Networks
  • Experience in Big Data processing frameworks, e.g. Hadoop, Hive, Spark
  • Experience in Knowledge Graph technology stack is a plus
  • Ability to adapt to emerging challenges and execute under ambiguity.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and an appreciation for diversity in teamwork


The pay range for this position at commencement of employment in California, Washington, or New York is expected in the range below.

$135,200 - $205,700

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

If hired, employees will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
