Architect I
Crawford Architects is seeking an Architect I to join our growing Kansas City office. In this role, you will assist in the overall efforts of various project phases, including architectural design, documentation, and construction administration. The Architect I will be responsible for leadership in architectural design, documentation and construction administration; creating feasibility and concept studies; develops 2D and 3D images; ensures all of the firm's projects and designs are feasible, meets the clients' needs and budget, while reflecting Crawford Architects' standards, mission and goals.
Essential Job Functions: The Architect I will assist the principal architects and project managers with the following:
Education: An accredited Bachelor of Architecture degree or a Master of Architecture (MArch) is preferred. Architecture License is required.
Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in the practice of architecture and | or architectural design | documentation working toward licensure
Necessary Skills: The candidate should have strong skills in creative and technical thinking, verbal, written & graphic communication plus the following additional requirements:
Essential Job Functions: The Architect I will assist the principal architects and project managers with the following:
- Analyze and develop approaches to the creation of architectural design, design development and documentation
- Develop, modify and | or review drawings according to established standards
- Review of developer's architectural documents for contractual compliance with design standards
- Ensures documentation for all phases conforms to QA | QC and Best Practice Standards applying proper QA | QC methods throughout project
- Understand and translate design intent, product and code research, into technical documents
- Completion of feasibility and concept studies
- Feasibility Studies, Concept Design, Programming and Master planning
- Provides construction administration services - overseeing the project completion
- Development of As-Built drawing sets to deliver to client
- Digital rendering and 3D modeling presentations/design drawings
- Client, consultant and contractor project information coordination
- Maintain relationships with clients, sub-contractors and construction team, answer questions and provide solutions
- Creating client presentations and interviews
- Mentoring and directing work of graduate designers in developing solutions to technical and design detail problems following established standards

- Strong knowledge of design principles and the ability to interpret design concepts and layouts, including commonly used standards, practices and procedures within the profession
- Strong knowledge of sustainability including USGBD | LEED, LEED accreditation preferred
- Knowledge of building regulations, life safety codes, design techniques, tools and design principles involved in the production of precision technical plans
- Strong creative and technical thinking skills
- Strong presentation & graphic communication skills
- Ability to communicate effectively, graphically, verbally and in writing
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp and Adobe Creative Suites
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong administrative and project management skills with the ability to meet deadlines and work within budgetary guidelines providing high quality service to clients
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to build relationships and work successfully with many different constituents and personnel
