The University of Southern California (USC), founded in 1880, is the largest private employer in the City of Los Angeles. As an employee of USC, you will be a part of a world-class research university and a member of the "Trojan Family," which is comprised of the faculty, students and staff that make the university what it is.
The Department of Radiology at Keck School of Medicine of USC is recruiting a Section Chief for Pediatric Imaging. The successful candidate will be appointed to a faculty rank commensurate with their qualifications. The new section chief will be a fellowship-trained, ABR-certified or -equivalent radiologist who will be appointed at a rank that is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
The ideal section chief candidate will have strong demonstrated leadership, teaching, and mentoring skills, with a demonstrated interest in scholarly achievement. The candidate should also have significant clinical expertise in pediatric imaging with experience in operational management.
The new section chief will supervise pediatric imaging operations at the Los Angeles General Medical Center. A major strength of the department is the rich clinical experience derived from the tremendous variety in pathology and patient population throughout all the sites, which are conveniently located on a single medical campus adjacent to downtown Los Angeles.
There are extensive opportunities for research and other scholarly activities, both within the department and in collaboration with other departments. The department provides dedicated research infrastructure including a grants manager, study coordinators, and statistical support . A long-standing commitment to didactic and teaching is a core value of the department which supports a highly competitive training program of 47 residents and 15 fellows from across the country. The new section chief will help shape the next generation of pediatric imaging experts and leaders.
The annual base salary range for this position is $350,000-$400,000. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.
The USC Department of Radiology is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive academic community. We believe that diversity is integral to excellence and welcome applications from all individuals whose backgrounds or interests align with this commitment.
Interested individuals may apply here and upload a curriculum vitae and cover letter (addressed to Jamlik-Omari Johnson, MD, Professor of Clinical Radiology and Interim Chair, USC Department of Radiology). Cover letters should include an applicant’s diversity statement—evidence or commitment to supporting diverse and inclusive work environments and fostering a sense of belonging in the workplace.
