Assistant Athletic Director for Development, Operations, and Campaign Strategy

Job Description

Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Athletic Development (AVP), the Assistant Athletic Director for Development, Operations and Campaign Strategy is a member of the Athletics Development staff, providing strategic leadership across a broad range of athletic fundraising and campaign priorities. The Assistant Athletic Director for Development, Operations and Campaign Strategy will deliver impact by enhancing development, streamlining strategic initiatives and stewardship priorities, overseeing project management, and communicating development objectives across Syracuse University Athletics and Advancement & External Affairs. This position plays a critical role in managing the development and direction of the `Cuse Athletics Fund team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred
  • Ideal candidates will have demonstrated experience in managing development operations, providing creative solutions and strategy, and strong communication skills, preferably in a college or university setting.
  • Experience designing communications and marketing materials within Adobe Design platforms or other design platforms
  • Proven experience organizing and directing multiple teams and departments
  • Excellent communicator in written and verbal form
  • Extremely versatile, dedicated to efficient productivity
  • Experience planning and leading strategic initiatives
  • Ability to work with University and donor database systems
  • Impeccable integrity and the ability to work in a collaborative environment.
  • Exceptional judgment and organizational skills, and experience maintaining confidentiality.
  • A valid Driver’s license is required.
  • Requires event attendance that may include non-business hours, nights, weekends, and/or holiday periods.

Job Specific Qualifications

  • Interest and experience in Collegiate Athletics (Division 1) strongly preferred. General knowledge and awareness of NCAA rules, especially as they pertain to university boosters and booster clubs.
  • Ability to work under pressure, focus and prioritize when dealing with several issues at one time, and support and take direction from multiple individuals.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Familiarity with social media platforms and relational database maintenance.
  • Experience in and/or demonstrated commitment to supporting diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and wellbeing.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as lead liaison to internal and external partners to build and develop relationships for increased efficiency and effectiveness of `Cuse Athletics Fund operations and strategy.
  • Develop and implement systems, processes, and tools to enhance fundraising operations across the organization and ensure an optimal integrated fundraising strategy.
  • Manage and ensure that all fundraising campaigns and strategies have a clear long- range vision, measurable goals, and workplan, and that those efforts are integrated and complementary across the organization.
  • Partner with key stakeholders and constituents to create, implement, and manage a comprehensive marketing and communications plan, including campaign fundraising, major gifts proposal, donor stewardship, events and overall engagement. Design all collateral related to these efforts.
  • Manage and interpret data from multiple CRM systems, analyze results, and provide ongoing reports to athletics and advancement leadership to aid in decision making.
