Reporting directly to the Chrome Hearts Global Controller, the Assistant Controller will oversee the accounting operations and lead a growing team of 3+ professionals. The Assistant Controller’s duties are focused on ensuring accurate and timely delivery of accounting entries, monthly close processes, financial reporting, maintaining internal controls/policies, and assisting with financial and tax audits. This is a key position, requires several years of proven experience, and is expected to work in-person at our HQ complex in Hollywood, CA (this is not a remote work position).


THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

·        Detail-oriented, hands-on Assistant Controller with a solid background in manufacturing preferred

·        Solid understanding of global business accounting including, but not limited to, international manufacturing, distribution, and retail store accounting: full scope from purchasing raw materials, manufacturing through to finished goods, inventory accounting for distribution, and ultimately in-store and online retail sales, Foreign Currency (FX), and Tax Compliance

·        Effective control implementations: assist with maintaining accounting policies and procedures, monthly balance sheet reviews, GL account reconciliations, and streamline close process to 5 days

·        Streamline the overall accounting operations through workflow improvements, automations, and leveraging out of country contract resources to accommodate Chrome Hearts’ scale and growth initiatives


RESPONSIBILITIES

·        Oversee and manage accounting functions including: Accounts Payable and Prepaids, Fixed Assets, Taxes, GL accounting, Master Data maintenance, and other areas as required

·        Assess current practices and procedures (including effective use of ERP and other systems), make recommendations and implement best practices

·        Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements to ensure accuracy and completeness

·        Perform ad hoc analysis and projects as requested

·        Assist with year-end audit activities; work with external domestic and international auditors to ensure accuracy and year-end reporting

·        Develop staff by cross-training, managing performance, goal setting, providing timely and ongoing feedback, and building strong team relationships

 

 

REQUIREMENTS

·        Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, ideally with professional accreditation such as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA)

·        7-10+ years of progressive accounting experience with several years in a supervisory role

·        Thorough understanding of US GAAP

·        Knowledge of manufacturing industry and retail experience strongly preferred

·        Cost accounting experience in consumer products manufacturing environment preferred

·        Excellent quantitative and qualitative analytical skills, including significant relevant experience with financial consolidations and reporting. Candidates experienced with consolidations and reporting of multi-divisional entities will be at an advantage

·        Must have proactive project management skills (workflow planning and management, people management and coaching, etc.)

·        Strong leadership skills with a dedication to driving and achieving results

·        Excellent verbal and written communication with all levels of the organization

·        Must have positive attitude, confident demeanor, and be willing to tackle challenging tasks under competing deadlines. This is a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment where people at all levels are expected to "roll up their sleeves" and exhibit a "can do" spirit, and see projects through to completion

·        Excellent Microsoft Office and financial systems skills (D365 is a plus)

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

Direct supervisory responsibility of a department of 3+ accounting professionals (two Accounts Payable staffers, one Junior Accountant, and one Staff Accountant) and management of out of country contract resources


REPORTS TO

This position directly reports to the Global Controller


WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and other electronic devices. This is a key position and expected to work in-person at the Company’s HQ complex in Hollywood, CA


POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This is a full-time exempt position. As the position will require communication with business partners located in other time zones, the position may also require periodic phone calls or coordination outside of normal business hours of 9am-5pm to accommodate local business hours of our foreign entities.
