Base pay range

$190,000.00/yr - $205,000.00/yr
The National Football League is seeking a transactional attorney who will be responsible for supporting a broad range of media-related transactions and related advisory work. This is a rare in-house legal counsel opportunity to help support the NFL’s various media business units and media strategy.

Strong candidates will possess an understanding of distribution and licensing models, especially in the context of digital media, and will have experience reviewing, structuring, and drafting content-related agreements.

Responsibilities

  • Structure, draft and negotiate content licenses and related agreements for traditional and emerging platforms, with a meaningful focus on digital platforms and emerging technologies
  • Structure, draft and negotiate content licenses and distribution agreements with free ad-supported television platforms (i.e., FAST/AVOD), social media platforms, video syndication partners and other digital outlets
  • Structure, draft and negotiate app distribution agreements with digital partners
  • Support the NFL’s direct-to-consumer initiatives (e.g., NFL+), including assisting with drafting promotional and co-marketing agreements, reviewing creative materials, and regularly auditing relevant policies (e.g., terms and conditions, FAQs, “how to” tutorials)
  • Deliver ongoing analysis and day-to-day legal advice in connection with a wide variety of media-related agreements as well as strategic and operational issues
  • Support executives in connection with contract negotiations and meetings with League partners and NFL internal stakeholders
  • Provide legal/business affairs support as needed for other NFL projects and initiatives

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree from accredited 4-year university/college and J.D. from accredited law school
  • 3+ years of experience in a transactional legal role at a top-tier law firm or in-house at a media/entertainment/technology company
  • Strong drafting experience in the media/content/technology space
  • Established proficiency with complex agreements and familiarity with distribution, licensing and direct-to-consumer models
  • Valid membership in good standing in New York state bar

Salary / Pay Range

This job posting contains a pay range, which represents the range of salaries or hourly rates that the NFL believes, in good faith, at the time of this posting that it might be willing to pay for the posted job in the location(s) specified. The NFL expects to hire for this position near the middle of the range. Only in truly rare and exceptional circumstances, where an external candidate has experience, credentials or expertise that far exceed those required or expected for the position, would the NFL consider paying a salary or rate near the higher end of the range.

  • NFL employees are required to work 40 hours per week

Salary

$190,000—$205,000 USD
