Position Focus
Reporting to the Assistant Controller, Yale School of Medicine (YSM), this position will be managing and leading a team of financial analysts as part of the General Accounting and Financial Reporting team. This role has a primary focus on external survey development, the Chart of Accounts (COA) compliance, and internal controls. This position will play a key role in delivering various external deliverables as well as overseeing the monitoring of COA usage and internal controls and will provide assistance to departments, including collaborating and leading efforts to develop solutions, procedures, and guidelines.
Manage a team of financial analysts.
Prepare and submit annual surveys to the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC), including preparation of related analyses and presentation of results to YSM senior leadership.
Contribute to the preparation of the finance portion of the deliverables for YSM’s periodic accreditation through the AAMC’s Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME).
Oversee The Monitoring Of YSM Accounting Compliance And Corrective Efforts Through Collaboration With YSM Department Business Offices, Including But Not Limited To
Unapproved/unexpensed expense reports and invoices
Labor suspense

Collaborate with YSM leadership, Yale Medicine, and central offices to manage assessments.
In collaboration with the YSM Controller’s Office team and stakeholders, contribute to drafting YSM guidelines, reference documents, procedures, and training guides in assigned areas; Ensure regular updating of the YSM Finance & Administration website content as it relates to YSM Controller’s Office procedures and guidelines.
Review requests for and facilitate set-up/closure of COA segments.
Assist with monitoring internal controls in areas of assigned responsibilities.
May perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Duties
Bachelor’s Degree in related field and seven years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
Required Skill/Ability 1
Demonstrated Supervisory experience. Excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills. Excellent problem-solving skills. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Required Skill/Ability 2
Excellent interpersonal skills; appreciation of team structure and dynamics; skills in collaboration, group facilitation and consensus building.
Required Skill/Ability 3
Ability to take initiative, work independently, and prioritize multiple projects.
Required Skill/Ability 4
Demonstrated experience with accounting concepts and financial analysis. Well-developed computer knowledge and experience with a strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Required Skill/Ability 5
Enthusiasm about working in a dynamic environment with numerous departments.
Preferred Education, Experience And Skills
Demonstrated knowledge of Yale University’s accounting and financial systems including Workday, Microsoft Power BI, and Yale Budget Tool (YBT). Thorough working knowledge of Yale University’s business, accounting, and financial policies, and procedures. Demonstrated knowledge of financial, accounting, and economic concepts.
