Assistant Director, Financial Systems and Reporting

  • Design, implement, and support new technologies and system upgrades, replacements, enhancements and acquisitions. Oversees implementation of new releases, new functionalities, and revised processing procedures, and performs system diagnosis and resolution as necessary.
  • Responsible for identifying end-user financial reporting and financial analysis requirements. Facilitates the development of standard financial reports and financial analysis using the tools that are at his/her disposal. Develops special ad hoc reports and analyses on request basis from Finance staff or other end user departments. Develops functional specs for the reports, as needed. Assists in programming those reports. Lead user for OBIEE, Argos and other reporting tools.
  • Manages Finance and Grant functionality in Banner and Reporting Tool, including but not limited to: clearing balance exceptions, Chart of Account validation, F&A calculation, payroll encumbrance management, year end accounting and budget maintenance, grant year report functionality.
  • Support Research Finance in the development of tools which increase the efficiency of RF staff, as well as the Department Administrators. Provides high level projections, analyses and reporting for Research Finance. Ensures that grant data is consistently reported in Statement of Operations and Grant Management reports.
  • Assist Budget Director in development of all funds budget approach, especially in the development of user friendly budget tools, built in or around the ERP system.
  • Trains finance and departmental users on how to use and maintain the ERP, as well as how to use reporting tools.
  • Provides the Procurement Services department with general support and troubleshooting expertise with their software interface to the college’s Financial system. Manages Purchasing year end close procedures.
  • Provides Accounts Payable department with general support and troubleshooting expertise with their software interface to the college’s Financial system. Manages invoice cancellations and vendor items that are problematic.
  • Assists Accounting Assistant Director in providing data extracts for audit. Provide additional data reporting to facilitate ad hoc and data integrity validations.
  • Provides the Office of Grant Support with technical support and troubleshooting expertise with their software and reporting needs. Liasion between vendor and IT to manage impact analysis and resolution. Continuously develop new ideas for reporting and analyzing data.
  • Develop reconciliation reports for interfaces between vendors and Financial System. Develop business process documents and flow charts. Manage and resolve data inconsistencies between interface systems and financial accounting ledgers.
  • Consult and work with departments external of Finance to design and develop reporting requirements for their respective systems
  • Continuously work on improving system functionality and efficiencies to promote a better financial system.
  • Must be able to identify, reconcile and initiate corrective processes for transactions from other source systems that lead to financial imbalances.
  • Other finance department heads -- review monthly, quarterly and annual results for gathering information related to the financial close.
  • Additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree – accounting preferred.

Masters degree preferred

5 To 7 Related Experience Managing Financial Systems Required.

Experience working in an research intensive academic health school or hospital highly preferred.

Experience using Banner or other similar ERP is required. Proficient in SQL developer tools, MS Office, Cayuse.

Experience in the analysis and retrieval of database information; business process documentation and related reporting products such as Argos, Business Objects, Hyperion, Oracle Enterprise Performance Management, Crystal Reports, Cognos, TM1, or other related reporting products.

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is listed below. Albert Einstein College of Medicine considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.

Minimum Salary Range

USD $160,000.00/Yr.

Maximum Salary Range

USD $170,000.00/Yr.

About Us

The Asst. Director is responsible for integrating the functional needs of end users of our financial systems with the technical requirements of the systems and the regulatory requirements of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). The Asst. Director provides support to all units of Finance and liaises with the Office of Information Technology and other functional areas within the College and Health System. The primary focus of the Asst. Director is to support, maintain, and enhance the financial, budgeting, and management reporting processes of the Finance Department.
