Position Details:

The Opportunity:

As the Assistant Director of Development and Engagement for the WSU Global Campus, you will be responsible for supporting unit fundraising and program engagement/development goals by planning and conducting outreach designed to promote understanding of the Global Campus’ impact and offerings with the aim of cultivating donors and identifying program development opportunities with both individuals and corporations. These efforts may include, but are not limited to, annual giving programming and solicitation, some major gift solicitations of $50,000 or more, outreach and engagement, and stewardship program development. Some travel in Washington state, the Pacific Northwest, and elsewhere is required.


Additionally, in this position you will be responsible for organizing, implementing, and evaluating special events; performing public relations and community outreach/engagement; solicitating gifts and sponsorship from individuals and/or corporations; promoting establishment and maintenance of endowment and scholarship accounts; administering an alumni relations membership program; fostering membership program relationships; managing annual fundraising and special event programs; and providing related support functions. You will also represent the University to internal and external constituents and manage stewardship of all gifts to Global Campus.


This is a remote/telework position, preferring the successful candidate be located in the Pacific Northwest or Greater Inland Pacific Northwest, with convenient access to the main WSU Campus in Pullman, WA.


Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of experience, which includes six (6) months of full-time experience in marketing, gift solicitation or public contact work with evidence of ability to work collaboratively, communicate effectively orally and in writing and organize and execute assignments. A Master’s degree in a relevant field may be substituted for up to one (1) year of the required experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
  • Experience with annual giving, membership programs, advertising, communications, sales, or marketing development-related experience.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver's license.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills, impact style writing, and direct mail writing experience.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Evidence of ability to plan and execute a fundraising project from conception to realization.
  • Fundraising experience.
  • Experience creating digital content for website and social media platforms.
  • Experience engaging faculty and translating their research into layman terms for prospective donors.
  • Experience with alumni/donor database applications.
  • Experience working for a college or university.


This is a remote/telework position with the successful candidate needing to meet WSU's technical system requirements for working remotely. Telework positions will require signing a telework agreement. Minimum technical requirements include an internet bandwidth of 4.0 Mbps for upload and download. Monthly Salary: $3,750.85 - 5,397.56 | In accordance with RCW 49.58.110, the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.
