Job Overview

An Assistant Director of Finance will perform multitude of tasks that include, but are not limited to, daily, weekly, monthly bookkeeping for various properties, assistance and management of staff at different levels at various properties, bank reconciliations, credit card statement reconciliations, month end close duties, preparations and remittance of sales and occupancy taxes and preparation and review of monthly financial statements. An Assistant Director of Finance will work closely with the Director of Finance regarding short and long-term goals and manage expenses within approved budget parameters.

The person having this position must possess good communication skills, have the ability to resolve conflict and have a thorough understanding of EOS policies, procedures and expectations.

Because of the fluctuating demands of the company’s operation, it may be necessary that each employee perform a multitude of different functions; therefore, as an essential part of your position, you will be expected to help others when the occasion arises, just as other employees are expected to help you. Accordingly, you may be expected to perform other tasks as needed or as directed.

Responsibilities

  • Must be courteous and gracious, maintaining a professional demeanor at all times
  • Establish and maintain good communications and team work with fellow colleagues and other departments within the hotel
  • Communicate with Management team regarding P&Ls, budgets, financial forecasts, etc.
  • Oversee daily, weekly and monthly bookkeeping
  • Ensure deadlines are met by each department in order to deliver Month End in a timely manner
  • Full AP and AR responsibilities
  • General Cashiering
  • Process Month End and Year End, adhering to all applicable deadlines
  • Prepare Month End and Year End Financial Statements for Review, within set deadlines
  • Perform analysis of financial statements and reconciliations on balance sheet
  • Prepare and submit all relevant taxes for the Hamilton.
  • Assist with audits
  • Actively participate in the management of the PO System and corporate policies and procedures
  • Help to establish/correct policies and procedures related to accounting functions, cash control, meeting deadlines, etc.
  • Take ownership of all accounting issues brought to your attention by guests
  • Maintain an increased awareness of safety issues throughout the hotel
  • Participate in scheduled departmental and administrative meetings as requested
  • Adhere to all standards of operations, policies and procedures, manuals, memos and verbal instructions
  • Be familiar with all safety and emergency procedures including OSHA requirements

Qualifications And Required Knowledge

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance preferred
  • Three (3) years related experience
  • Hospitality experience preferred
  • Excellent reading, writing and oral proficiency in the English Language
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to understand and work in various accounting systems
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Internet
  • Work well under pressure, requires being a team player
