The Assistant Logistics Manager supervises and coordinates the activities of workers responsible for picking product and preparing it for same day shipping, both nationally and internationally, via expedited carrier services. They ensure smooth operation of entire shipping department, and their main responsibilities include, coordinating the activities of employees engaged in material handling, shipping, storage and transportation.
Responsibilities
Has full capabilities of operating in an ERP system
Directing flow of produced goods from multiple buildings and/or vendors both domestically and international
Working with various carriers to schedule trailer drop off and rotation for shipping launches. Constant reporting of delays and on time shipping
Working with production to determine available production counts for shipping to meet delivery commitments.
Updating tracking reports that would be used internally and externally
Dispatch of Outform Drivers approved carriers and couriers
Freight Billing – write and review all invoices for approval and processing by Accts Payable.
Supervising the process of goods being transported timely from multiple locations
Customer service focused both internally and externally
Ability to know DOT regulations domestically and proper documentation needed for international shipments.
Procurement background in Transportation for both International and Domestic
Additional responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Logistics and 2-3 years in a related supervisory/leadership role
Experience in International and Domestic carriers and supervising their process
International shipping experience needed for Imports and Exports
Effective communication and comprehension skills; verbal and written
Familiar with UPS and Fed Ex software
Knowledge in retail compliance
Strong leadership abilities
Microsoft efficient in excel, word, outlook, teams, and power point
Possess strong math skills
Possess excellent problem-solving skills
Ability to function independently, as well as multitask and work as a team
Knowledge in the creation of all shipping documentations for both domestic and international
Must be familiar with freight software (TMS)
Willingness to take calls or resolve shipping needs outside of normal business hours
Must have or be able to obtain a forklift operator’s license
Must exercise initiative, judgement, discretion and decision making
Organized and detail oriented
Ability to use time productively, efficiently and meet challenging work goals
Must either have a college degree or equivalent experience
Bi-Lingual/Spanish a plus
Physical Requirements
Ability to bend, twist, reach and stand for long periods of time
Ability to lift materials up to 70 lbs.
