What You'll Do

As an Assistant Teacher within St. Anne’s Early Childhood Education department, you will directly impact young children, ages 0-5 years old. The Assistant Teacher will support the active care and supervision of the children in the classroom. You will collaborate with and assist Teaching staff in planning, facilitating, and implementing individual and group activities designed to stimulate children’s social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth. Assistant Teachers will assist with the inclusion of children with special needs. You will also encourage parent engagement in the educational activities and assist with promoting the parent as the child’s first teacher in their development.

Duties Include

  • Implementing program curriculum for children
  • Working cooperatively with staff to provide information and resources to enrolled families
  • Integrating parent involvement, social services, nutrition, health, and mental health services into the learning
  • Conducting daily classroom planning
  • Maintaining children’s records in conjunction with Teachers
  • Focusing the program on the needs of individual children by aligning with their interests, abilities, strengths, individual style, and pace of learning
  • Assisting the Teachers in supervising the classroom

Education Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Enrollment in a Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE) Career Development Initiative Program
  • Be in process of completing a Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential
  • OR-
  • High School Diploma
  • 6 Early Childhood Education or Child Development college units

Other Requirements

  • Proficiency in English
  • Traveling to all centers in all service areas, as needed
  • Valid California Class C Driver’s License
  • Valid automobile insurance

Preferred Skills

  • Bilingual English, Spanish, Tagalog, and/or Korean preferred
  • Strong written and verbal skills
  • Experience working with Child Plus program
  • Proficient computer, data entry, and clerical skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills with the ability to relate well to children and adults across many socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds
  • The ability to provide leadership and stability for program continuity
