All students at Conroy are special needs students who may be medically fragile, or severely disabled, needing full support and care to access their highly specialized curriculum.

Paraprofessional Salary Schedule (starting at $3,851/month)

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or equivalent and 48 college credits are required.
  • Experience with children with autism and attending to their personal needs is preferred.
  • First Aid certification/training preferred.

Essential Job Functions

Residency Requirements City of Pittsburgh Residency Required

  • Follow teacher developed lessons for meeting students' individualized educational program objectives.
  • Record data as directed by teacher.
  • Work with students in a positive respectful manner.
  • Be a team player, work with classroom teacher, therapists and other school staff.
  • Daily load and unload buses.
  • Learn and assist with vocal output augmentative devices.
  • Participate in daily student feeding programs including helping to feed students lunches.
  • Assist with the transition of secondary age students in the School Based and Community Based Vocational education and on-the-job training.
  • Must be willing to supervise students 'off-site' at various work sites in Pittsburgh area.
  • Must be willing & able to ride in school vehicles with students to work sites.
  • Care for student's (ages 4.5-21) personal bodily functional needs including toileting, changing diapers, menstruating, vomiting and nasal discharge on a daily basis.
  • Participate in training and implementation of Crisis Management Techniques.

Additional Job Information

School-based paraprofessionals participating in the voluntary transfer process are limited to two (2) applications. If a paraprofessional applies to more than 2 positions, Human Resources will honor only the first two applications in alphabetical order by school. All other applications will be omitted.
