Assistant Technical Designer

ALEXIS is seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Technical Design Assistant to join its high performing Technical Design department. This position is an integral contributor to the development and execution of department strategy for fit, sizing/grading, product construction and process effectiveness. Technical Design is a key point of contact at various levels within Design, Product Development, Merchandising, Sourcing, Overseas Factories, and with external Vendors. This role requires a strong level of interpersonal communication, problem solving, and process management skills. This person should thrive in a fast-paced and multi-faceted environment.


This position will report to the Senior Technical Designers.


Key Accountabilities:


  • Build detailed tech packs, create initial spec for proto samples and approve PP samples for production.
  • Ensures execution of design and fit intent into bulk production while maintaining brand aesthetics and quality standards. Develops and maintains fit protocol and brand standards.
  • Track fit of pre-production and production samples. 
  • Assist Senior Technical Designers in preparing garments, fit sessions and other tasks as assigned.
  • Measure and prepare samples before all fit sessions and record comments to ensure that the final fit, quality and construction meet all standards.
  • Work closely with Sourcing and Production to execute the Time and Action calendar and manage the sample approval process.
  • Work with Design, Production and Sales in order to go through the fit process of garment.
  • Maintain daily communication with internal and external teams to ensure production is on schedule.
  • Communicate with overseas factories and vendors to ensure all styles, fits, construction and specs meet the standards for costing and appropriateness for brand.


Key Requirements:


  • Impeccable time management skills with great sense of urgency.
  • Ability to manage timely but effective fittings with guidance on correction requests on daily basis.
  • Good knowledge of construction standards and manufacturing methods.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to proactively trouble shoot and problem solve in a fast-paced environment.
  • Organizational skills and ability to multi task.
  • Computer skills (preferred programs: computer pattern programs, such as Illustrator, Gerber, Lectra, MS Excel, MS Word...).
