Inland Marine Assistant Vice President / Senior Underwriter Responsibilities:

Old Republic Inland Marine, Underwrites, prices and manages various classes of Inland Marine business. We are looking for a Assistant Vice President / Senior Underwriter to develop and profitably grow a book of Inland Marine business comprised of Builder Risk, Contractors Equipment, Installation Floater, Warehouse Legal Liability and other Inland Marine lines of business. This position works closely with ORIM leadership to help identify the best opportunities to pursue. ORIM has a flat organizational structure to embrace responsibility and an efficient decision-making process. ORIM is located in Chicago and Atlanta but supports Inland Marine underwriting activities around the US.

Inland Marine Assistant Vice President / Senior Underwriter duties will include, but are not limited to:

• Build a profitable and diverse book of Inland Marine business with assigned brokers throughout the country.
• Develop creative program structures to stay ahead of the competition.
• Create, implement and manage underwriting initiatives to drive the profitable growth of the portfolio.
• Manage workloads and authority grants for the underwriting staff.
• Serve as the technical underwriting expert and primary resource for underwriting questions.
• Understand, interpret and consider catastrophe modeling results as part of the decision-making process and aggregate management.
• Drive a culture that promotes collaboration and teamwork.
• Generate and assist with the implementation of ideas for continuous operational improvement.
• Create and build relationships with Inland Marine specialist brokers across the country.
• Subject matter expert and Mentor for other colleagues on the team
• Occasional travel is required. (Up to 20%)

Experience/Required Skills:

• 5+ years of Inland Marine underwriting experience (will consider broker and property E&S experience)
• Bachelor’s degree. CPCU preferred.
• Experience managing an underwriting staff.
• Ability to analyze risk across a broad spectrum of Inland Marine industries.
• Strong problem solving, reasoning and decision-making skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Understanding of Inland Marine rating methodology and cat modeling tools
• Understanding of Shared and Layered Program structures (Both Property and Inland Marine)
