Actuarial Specialist

My client is a leading health plan seeking an Actuarial Specialist on the Commercial Product Development team. This role involves researching and assessing financial risk and designing actuarial models for product evaluations. The ideal candidate will have a experience with small & large group commercial healthcare products and is excited about implementing new ideas and innovation to the actuarial team.


Essential Responsibilities:

  • Lead cross-functional initiatives, build relationships with stakeholders, and drive projects by providing expert advice and feedback.
  • Manage business-specific projects, ensuring adherence to procedures, developing work plans, and solving complex problems while optimizing resources.
  • Review and coordinate actuarial documentation for financial reports, tax returns, and insurance regulations, presenting findings to mid-level leadership.
  • Design and conduct product line evaluations, including financial analysis, reserve valuations, and performance assessments.
  • Develop advanced actuarial research methods and frameworks to support product development and regulatory compliance.
  • Assess financial risks and opportunities using innovative actuarial techniques and judgment.
  • Collaborate with business partners to translate complex actuarial insights into actionable recommendations and ensure compliance with Actuarial Standards of Practice.
  • Create and refine actuarial models to address business needs and support decision-making processes.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of actuarial experience.
  • Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) certification.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
