Overview

Juilliard’s Media Production Department is seeking an Associate Audio/Video Operator to support audio and video capture, recording studio sessions, livestreaming, and archival/public post-production in collaboration with our team of media professionals.

We are in an exciting time at Juilliard exploring new media capabilities with the launch of livestreaming and on-demand features on Juilliard LIVE, curriculum development and student recordings in the newly renovated recording studio, and the expansion of our digital archive. The department’s work provides broad public access to high-quality, free arts experiences and adds visibility to our ongoing fundraising efforts to make a Juilliard education ever more affordable.

The Associate Audio/Video Operator role is integral to the Media Department as it supports and performs the technical and physical requirements for livestreams, audio/video captures, post-production, media coordination, recording studio sessions, and other events that serve students, alumni, and the Juilliard community at large.

The individual in this multifaceted role will collaborate with a variety of artistic divisions and producing departments to create and distribute digital media in support of the Juilliard student education. Reporting to the Head of Media Engineering, this role also handles administrative tasks, departmental coordination, and provides hands-on support for Media Production operations and general departmental needs.

Remote work is permissible on request and based on the on-site requirements of the position.

The salary for this role is $55-65,000 per year.

Role Responsibilities

  • Assist with audio and video livestreams/captures in performance spaces for Dance, Drama, Music, and special events.
  • Support, track, and execute archival media requests.
  • Operate audio and video equipment, including PTZ and manual cameras.
  • Support work in Juilliard Recording Studio, including student sessions, special recording projects, interviews, and more.
  • Assist with project setups, equipment maintenance, and provide production support when required.
  • Set up and operate A/V equipment including sound reinforcement and music playback.
  • Maintain equipment, inventory, studio cleanliness and maintenance.
  • Review and verify accuracy of project and institutional calendars in support of Media Department operations.
  • Participate in meetings and takes notes for production and administrative projects.
  • Perform load ins and load outs on various performances and events and recording studio sessions.
  • Perform related duties as assigned by manager to support school and department operations and staff.

Qualifications

  • Three or more years in a media production environment.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends based on scheduled performance and events calendar.
  • Ability to lift 30 lbs.
  • Working knowledge of PremierePro, Final Cut X, and ProTools.

Preferred Background

  • Performing arts background is preferred but not required.
  • Degree in Audio/Video/Media Technology or relevant practicum preferred but not required.
  • Ability to execute front-of-house live mixing for institutional events, performances, lectures, and more preferred but not required.
