The Diabetes, Obesity and Complications Therapeutic Area (DOCTA) of Eli Lilly and Company, is dedicated to the discovery of biologic, small molecule and genetic therapeutics for the treatment of diabetes, obesity and associated complications. We are seeking an in vivo biologist with biopharmaceutical experience to engage in ongoing research projects and support initiation of new drug discovery research efforts. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience performing in vivo studies using models and phenotyping assays relevant to research focused on obesity and diabetes. The applicant must be a results-focused and self-motivated worker capable of conducting detailed research protocols without constant supervision, strong written and oral communication skills, and be able to work in a team-oriented environment.

Key Responsibilities Include
- Able to design and perform (acute and chronic) in vivo efficacy and screening studies in rodent models of obesity and diabetes
- Proficient at rodent handling, dosing, and necropsy/tissue collection
- This role is a full-time position that requires some weekend work
- Requirement for accurate record keeping, independent data analysis, and reporting of data in written and oral formats. Will perform work in full compliance with Lilly Research Policies and complete all required training activities in the timeframe specified.
- Bachelors degree in biology, pharmacology or a closely related field
- Minimum of 2 years industry experience
- Demonstrated hands-on expertise performing small animal obesity studies
- Experience assessing body composition, energy expenditure, and/or performing glucose/insulin tolerance testing in preclinical models
- Molecular biology skills (RT-qPCR, western blots, ELISAs, etc)
- Familiarity with ex vivo models of adipose tissue and liver
- Strong personal skills and sustained tendency for collaboration. Ability to prioritize activities across multiple projects independently and effectively.
- Proficient communication skills and experience presenting data to internal and external partners and teams.
