Objectives

The Associate Director, Alliance Management

  • Lead and support the VBU interface with key strategic partners to optimize short-term and long-term value for Takeda
  • Build and manage key partner relationships and draw on relevant VBU players and functions to ensure strong collaboration
  • Represent the VBU vaccine operations and headquarter functions by bridging the gap between business support and technical operations in key relationship areas.
  • Identify, implement, and standardize continuous improvement opportunities related to alliance management across the external network

ACCOUNTABILITIES: (Describe the primary duties and responsibilities of the job. Approximately 5 10 bulleted task statements should be identified).

  • Support the VBU interface with partners; design and implement a customized framework to optimize the effectiveness of each partnership with Takeda
  • Lead alliance management for the manufacturing and technical transfer activity related to the Nuvaxovid program and process transfer to Hikari, and support other key VBU relationships with companies to enhance partner practices and improve relationships
  • Ensure effective partner collaboration by delivering robust governance processes, timely facilitation and decision-making, relationship management, channels for communication, issue escalation and resolution, and feedback loops for lessons learned
  • Act as a role model and coach for each of the functions involved in day-to-day management of the partnership; identify opportunities to also share best practices with complementary VBU functions (e.g., project management, contracts, business planning, etc.)
  • Support BD and the assessment and diligence processes for potential new partners and provide input and support negotiation of supply and partnership agreements
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable internal policies and procedures, regulations; support inspection readiness of all regulated activities
  • Potential to add supervisory responsibility for alliance management depending on partnership team function structures going forward
  • Develop and manage relationships with key suppliers. Track and manage performance. Lead efforts to address any potential supply risks, working closely with cross-functional partners.
  • Build, manage, and lead teams to drive the above activities.
  • Foster a culture and values that align with Takeda's priorities of Patient, Trust, Reputation, and Business

Education, Behavioural Competencies And Skills

  • B.S. with at least 8-10 years or M.S./PhD with at least 8 years of experience, in bio- pharmaceutical manufacturing. A degree in biochemical engineering, biotechnology or a related discipline is highly preferred.
  • Specific experience in project, program, and alliance management and familiarity with related manufacturing and quality systems. Focus area is with External partnerships
  • Knowledge of cGMP and regulatory guidance relevant to vaccine manufacturing, from process development through formulation, filling, and finishing of parenteral products.
  • Experience working directly with third parties and proven ability to develop and manage partnership negotiations and relationships.
  • Strong leadership skills, with ability to lead and manage a team, serve as a partner, and influence others in a highly cross-functional and dynamic environment. Requires good presentation and communications skills.
  • Ability to work effectively on multiple project teams and initiatives happening in parallel. The candidate must be self-motivated, able to prioritize and manage, and meet project deadlines and budgets.
