Role Summary

We are seeking an Associate Director of FP&A. In this role, you will be an integral member of the Finance team as we build our FP&A capabilities. This position understands the business well, is highly analytical, and provides financial and strategic insights to enable the company to make well-informed decisions. This position requires the ability to effectively partner, communicate, and collaborate across the Finance team and with various levels of management and program/functional teams across the company. This requires the ability to thrive in team-oriented environments and ensuring a high degree of accountability, transparency, and understanding as it relates to the forecasting, reporting, accounting and operational performance of the organization. The successful candidate will be self-motivated, resourceful, have strong analytical skills and can thrive in a fast-paced biotech company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic and operational FP&A support to stakeholders throughout the company, including financial planning and budgeting/forecasting processes for all functional areas, including operating expenses, headcount, and capital expenses by department and program
  • Establish role as strategic finance business partner to program and functional teams, with a focus on Clinical or Technical Operations functions
  • Collaborate across functional teams and departments to compile budgets, forecasts, and long-range spending plans
  • Build and develop program and departmental financial reporting packages that provide actionable insights to program and leadership stakeholders and help support effective decision making
  • Key contributor in the long-range plan development, enabling leadership to shape the strategic outlook for the organization
  • Act as liaison between business partners and Accounting, facilitating monthly and quarterly accruals that meet GAAP and SOX compliance requirements
  • Support the implementation and buildout of financial planning software and act as the internal system administrator
  • Communicate comfortably across all levels of the company, providing clear and concise supporting materials to guide discussions
  • Support broader organization through ad hoc projects and analyses, as necessary

Ideal Candidate

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting, MBA preferred
  • 8+ years finance/FP&A experience with increasing levels of responsibility
  • Prior employment at a publicly traded biotech company preferred
  • Proficiency with excel, financial modelling, PowerPoint, and financial planning tools required (Adaptive Planning)
  • Experience supporting high growth clinical organizations and clinical trial forecasting preferred
  • Knowledge of US GAAP and SOX principles required
  • A natural curiosity to understand the business further, a sense of ownership for their work and an ability to develop strong working relationships
  • Highly motivated, with ability to think strategically and prioritize, including a demonstrated ability to organize work effectively to meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills; ability to work collaboratively with other parts of the business, including key internal and external stakeholders and executive management
  • Ability to be flexible and work analytically in a dynamic, fast-paced environment

  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 20% including a minimum of 4 times per year for All Hands meetings

The anticipated salary range for candidates for this role will be $175,000 to $190,000 per year. The final salary offered will depend on several factors, which may include, but is not limited to relevant years of experience, educational background, and geography.
