US Consumers navigate considerable complexity in handling their healthcare, and their experience is often vastly different from the personalized, seamless engagements we’ve come to expect from the banking, retail, and travel industries. While the pandemic led to innovations in virtual care, alternate models for distribution, and integrated health and wellness solutions, these innovations focus on specific points in the patient journey versus an integrated, end-to-end patient experience.

Position Description

The Associate Director, Pharmacy Logistics plays an integral role in handling and optimizing the flow of Lilly products through the dispensing ecosystem. This role will optimize the execution of the commercial supply chain by developing and implementing strategies to improve the productivity and efficiency of Lilly and its third-party pharmacy partners.

The complex and changing healthcare environment requires the person in this role to be passionate about the mission, persistent through ambiguity and agile through changing circumstances. Collaboration skills, people leadership, strong business acumen, critical thinking, stress tolerance, problem solving, data savviness, are all critical skills encouraged from someone in this position.

Key Responsibilities

Supply Chain Management:

  • Outline in detail the end-to-end supply chain, from sourcing to shipping finished products to delivering product to patients.
  • Find opportunities within the end-to-end supply chain to improve efficiency, reduce lead times, and lower costs.
  • Evaluate and recommend how Lilly might oversee and optimize our end-to-end supply chain operations; see opportunities to monitor inventory levels, forecast demand, and build processes for order fulfillment.


Logistics Coordination

  • Make recommendations on how Lilly may oversee and optimize transportation, warehousing, and distribution activities to ensure on-time and cost-effective delivery of products.
  • Collaborate with carriers, freight forwarders, and fulfillment center partners to understand and map transportation routes, shipping costs, and delivery performance.
  • Make recommendations to reduce costs, improve speed to delivery, and implement best practices for packaging, labeling, and shipping.
  • Analyze supply chain data to identify bottlenecks and implement solutions
  • Ensure compliance with all related laws and regulations


Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5 or more years of experience in logistics and/or pharmacy operations
  • Expertise in management methodologies such as Lean Manufacturing, TQM, Six Sigma, or equivalent efficiency-driven practices.
  • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. Lilly does not anticipate providing sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B or TN status) for this employment position


Additional Skills And Preferences

  • MBA preferred
  • Experience working with vendor partners
  • Demonstrated competencies in business problem definition, analysis and interpretation, attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills and ability to simplify complexity
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required
