Regent University’s School of Communication and the Arts invites applications for Chair of the Department of Music as a full-time senior-level professor; appointment rank will be dependent on experience and background. This position will be located at Regent University’s Virginia Beach, VA campus.

Music is a vibrant, growing field at Regent University. The Department of Music’s undergraduate degree programs include vocal performance, songwriting, worship leadership and technologies, and the Institute of Music and Worship, our next generation incubator for real-world training and cutting-edge performances. The Chair of the Department of Music will lead and administer academic and co-curricular music initiatives, teach undergraduate music courses, and coordinate with programs in the School of Communication and the Arts across Regent University.

Qualifications: The successful candidate will be an entrepreneurial scholar holding an appropriate terminal degree. The ideal candidate will have a significant research and creative portfolio, evidence of successful undergraduate teaching, and a clear and compelling Christian commitment. Areas of accomplishment should include at least one of our expanding music programs, including but not limited to songwriting, worship leadership, worship technologies, and contemporary vocal performance.

Expectations include 1) a dedication to Christ-centered teaching and learning; 2) a record of or potential for academic scholarship; 3) the ability to teach undergraduate-level courses; 4) facility with online instructional technology; and 5) a willingness to embrace the College and University Identity and Mission statements and subscribe to a statement of Christian faith.
