Job Overview:

The AV Technician is responsible for the setup, maintenance, and repair of audio-visual equipment, including projectors, microphones, video screens, sound systems and related components. The technician ensures that all equipment operates correctly and meets the needs of clients or event requirements.


Key Responsibilities:

Installation and Setup

  • Install and configure AV systems and equipment, including projectors, speakers, monitors, microphones, video conferencing systems and other related devices.
  • Set up and test AV equipment for live events, meetings, and conferences to ensure proper operation.
  • Integrate AV systems with other technology platforms and ensure compatibility.

Maintenance and Repair

  • Perform routine maintenance on AV equipment to ensure longevity and optimal performance.
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment malfunctions and issues in a timely manner.
  • Replace or upgrade AV components as needed.

Customer Support

  • Provide technical support and training to clients and end-users on the operation of AV equipment.
  • Respond to service requests and address any technical issues promptly.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction by delivering high-quality service and support.

Documentation and Reporting

  • Maintain detailed records of installations, repairs and maintenance activities.
  • Create and update user manuals and guides for AV systems and equipment.
  • Report on the status of AV systems and suggest improvements or upgrades.

Compliance and Safety

  • Ensure that all installations and repairs comply with industry standards and safety regulations.
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in AV technology and industry best practices.


Qualifications:

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate’s degree or certification in audio-visual technology, electronics, or a related field preferred.

Experience

  • Previous experience as an AV technician, AV installer, or in a similar technical role.
  • Hands-on experience with installing, operating and troubleshooting AV equipment.

Skills

  • Strong technical knowledge of audio-visual systems and equipment.
  • Proficiency in reading/understanding technical manuals and schematics.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to quality work.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and move heavy equipment.
  • Comfortable working at heights and in various environments.

Work Environment

  • The role may require working in various settings, including offices, schools, conference centers and outdoor venues.
  • Travel will be required to client sites and/or event locations.
  • Flexible working hours, including evenings and weekends, may be necessary to support events and installations.
