AV Engineer Job Description

Are you an experienced AV Engineer looking for a new opportunity? iSphere, a leading IT consulting company, is currently seeking an AV Engineer for our client in New York City for a compelling long-term/on-going opportunity. In this hybrid position, you will have the chance to design, install, support, maintain, and operate video conferencing and audio-visual systems.

As an AV Engineer, you will be responsible for coordinating with other departments to ensure seamless new technology installations and ongoing support. Your expertise will be crucial in providing AV design recommendations for new installations, managing vendor relationships, and sourcing new vendors. Additionally, you will play a vital role in creating documentation and manuals for hardware and software, as well as responding to AV-related issues and collaborating with network teams when necessary.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to develop training materials for multimedia technologies and configure conference rooms to meet specific user requirements. You will also be responsible for maintaining and optimizing integrated room audio and video systems, troubleshooting and upgrading AV systems, and overseeing the installation of AV equipment across all sites.

As an AV Engineer, you will have the chance to take on additional duties such as performing event producer/first chair roles, managing technical aspects of events, and providing in-room or remote meeting support. You will also be responsible for coordinating large meetings, webinars, and events with other departments. It is essential that you stay updated with industry trends and technologies to ensure you are at the forefront of AV engineering.

To be successful in this role, you should have a Bachelor's degree or technical certification, along with at least 10 years of experience in multimedia and/or end-user support. Advanced knowledge of AV and videoconferencing equipment, such as MS Teams, Zoom, Poly, Cisco, and WebEx, is required. You should also have a strong understanding of AV control systems, such as Crestron, AMX, and Extron. Excellent communication skills, the ability to read technical drawings/schematics, and the willingness to travel and work after hours/weekends are also essential. Finally, you should be able to handle high-pressure situations calmly.
