Description
The Level 2/3 Audio-Video Technology Installer applies specialized knowledge and skills to install, support, troubleshoot, and repair audiovisual (AV) systems and other equipment in technology enhanced facilities to support teaching, learning, research, etc. and patient care. Tests and debugs systems. Ensures day-to-day operations and services run smoothly and maintains a consistent technology experience for all customers, including classrooms, conference rooms, offices, and other spaces. Responds to trouble tickets. Responsible for the installation of audio video systems throughout the campus. Project management, meeting with clients, performing a needs analysis, developing and designing system(s), generation of purchasing quotes, receiving equipment, coordination with other trades, installation and commission of system(s), and performing end user training. Systems include, but are not limited to, LCD flat panels, video production systems, speakers & microphones, cabling, racking and mounting AV devices, and control systems. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (25%) Performs installation tasks including, but not limited to: System layout, pulling and terminating cables, installing AV Devices (video, audio, control, network, computing, etc), configuring AV devices, equipment racks. Assists with moving supplies and tools to and from job site, cleanup and trash out of installations as needed. References design documentation to create actionable plans for system staging, prebuild, and installation. (25%) Maintains overall Shop Management including but not limited to: Keeping the shop clean and organized, ordering new supplies as needed, receiving and completing inventory of equipment, staging of equipment for installation jobs, and adhering to timelines and daily/weekly schedules. (15%) Completes administrative tasks such assisting with system design, ordering, receiving, inventory, billing, and RMA processes. (15%) Performs maintenance activities. Provides on-going user and system support. Updates and/or debugs device software/firmware as needed. Works to reduce system downtime and trouble calls. (10%) Stays abreast of current Audio-Video technology trends and education. Completes self-paced and other training as required. Training includes: Online Manufacturers Trainings/Certifications, Hands On training of fabrication, equipment rack construction, inter-device wiring, network architecture, installation techniques, as well as other internal systems. (10%) Other tasks as assigned

Level 2 Qualifications: ($25-30/hr.) - 1+ Years of Relevant Experience - basic construction/technology installation - HS Diploma + (college is a plus) - Knowledge of: Hand/Power Tools, learn from others, strong oral/written, PCs, networking, AV principles, live event. Level 3 Qualifications: ($28-34/hr.) - 3-5+ years of relevant work Experience (or equivalent combination of education) - Advanced construction / technology installation experience - All other skills from L2 - Potentially CTS, Extron, Crestron, Q-Sys, Dante, Biamp and other AV related certifications
