We have an opening for a Bank Consultant - Possesses enhanced knowledge and responsibilities for performing a variety of duties relative to promoting and selling all bank deposit products and services to new and existing customers by assessing customer needs and determining which financial products and services best fit their needs. Working knowledge of Consumer Loans with the ability to discuss, sell and complete the process through to the booking of the loan.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Thorough knowledge of bank products, services, policies and procedures to effectively explain to potential and existing customers.
  • Proactively assess customers' depository and consumer credit to determine current and future financial needs in order to recommend and to present options to appropriately sell proper products and/or services.
  • Explains service features including service charges, interest rates, etc. Opens new accounts in compliance with established policies and procedures. Prepares all paperwork and assists the customer in signing of documents necessary to process new accounts and loans.
  • Refers customers as necessary to the appropriate banker or department to cross-sell additional services or products in order to broaden the relationship.
  • Ensures accurate completion and timely submission of all monthly reports which include meet and/or exceed assigned monthly sales activity goals.
  • Prepare sales letters; schedule and conduct follow up calls. May make telemarketing calls to existing customers to broaden relationships. May perform joint calling efforts with Area Manager.
  • Enforces compliance with bank regulations, policies and procedures, audit standards and security standards.
  • Assures proper handling of service requests and/or resolution of customer problems by taking responsibility to include follow up as appropriate.
  • Ensures accounts have been set up properly. This also includes call back of reports for both new accounts as well as maintenance.
  • Interviews consumer loan applicants, to include quoting of loan rates, terms, fees, provide the appropriate loan application and answer any basic questions.
  • Reviews applications for completeness and forward documents to consumer loan center for processing. Works closely with the Area Manager to finalization of loan documentation or decline.
  • Active participation in the monthly branch meetings.
  • Works closely with Area Manager to effectively recognize Universal Banking Representative referrals that result in new and/or additional business. Ensures accurate referral credit is recorded and clearly communicated to the Universal Banking Representative for appropriate referral reporting.
  • Keeps abreast of competitor product/service offerings in order to maintain our customer base.
  • Perform miscellaneous clerical duties associated with new accounts and other duties as assigned.
  • Perform merchandising/marketing activities as required and may assist with lobby merchandising including monitoring for the most up to date brochures.
  • Provide assistance in promotional campaigns and product/service training sessions.
  • May perform Universal Banking Representative duties as needed.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Higher education preferred and a minimum of 2 years of related work experience required.
  • Enthusiastic and enjoys working with customers and prospects. Proactive and self-motivating.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to include proper telephone etiquette.
  • Effective interpersonal, sales, cross selling and referral skills.
  • Able to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Problem solving and negotiating skills.
  • Computer literate in order to utilize the various software programs available to the bank, including Microsoft Word and Excel.

Bilingual a plus

Candidate will be subject to investigation through credit checks, reference checks, background checks and fingerprinting checks performed at the time permissible under relevant law.
