Function

Under the direction of the principal, the BRC paraprofessional will provide direct support to students experiencing behavior dysregulation. The paraprofessional will provide support in coping and self-regulation strategies, reinforce skills needed to be successful in the general education environments, and participate as a member of the school behavior team.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Demonstrate an understanding and receptive attitude toward students of varied age groups
• Implement assigned behavioral interventions and/or methodologies in collaboration with the principal and behavior team
• Provide assistance with de-escalating student behaviors and administer one-to-one intensive behavior intervention to students
• Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students and adults
• Collect data in regard to behavior in order to evaluate student performance and progress, the effectiveness of interventions, strategies, and support, and contribute to future plans
• Assist the classroom teacher in all aspects of classroom instruction and behavior support
• Implement a Behavior Strategic Plan/Behavior Intervention Plan and prescribed behavior strategies.
• Attend all mandatory meetings and mandatory professional development (Behavior, PASS, CPI) required for this position
  
  

Requirements

Associate’s Degree or pass paraprofessional skills testing prior to employment; High school diploma/equivalent;
