Job Description

  • Will join us in building capabilities to lead the industry in the advancement of novel products to the market through innovation and execution of analytical testing.
  • Will contribute to the development of vaccines with an emphasis on nucleic acid analytical techniques and sequencing.
  • Performs testing in both the R&D and/or regulated settings in support of clinical drug and vaccine candidates.
  • Responsible for method development, transfer, verification, and qualification in support of process and formulation development for biotherapeutics and vaccines.
  • Responsible for developing, troubleshooting, and utilizing analytical methodologies to support process development of biotherapeutics, vaccines and oligonucleotides.
  • Will perform nucleic acid-based analytical techniques, such as gel electrophoresis, liquid chromatography, nucleic acid quantitation, and next generation sequencing (NGS).
  • Must work within corporate guidelines and must appropriately record, archive, and report all data.
  • Adhere to the highest quality standards and appropriate safety practices in the workplace.
  • Complete all Good Laboratory Practice and safety training in compliance with departmental requirements and follow appropriate safety practices in the workplace.
  • Perform nucleic acid preparation, separation, and sequencing techniques and other relevant analytical methods (electrophoresis, liquid chromatography, qPCR, NGS) as needed.
  • Perform various experiments for analytical method development and characterization for biological therapeutics.
  • Independently analyze and provide conclusions regarding experimental data generated.
  • Document analytical results in regulated systems and technical reports
  • Interact effectively with peers and leaders as part of a multi-disciplinary team and thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing, matrixed environment.

Qualifications

  • MS in biochemistry, biology, chemistry, or related field with more than 2 years of relevant experience; OR
  • BS in biochemistry, biology, chemistry, or related field with more than 6 years of relevant experience.
  • Proven record of delivering results in a fast-paced environment and effective communication to project teams.
  • Demonstrated technical writing skills and good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to follow established procedures under minimal supervision.
  • Experience with DNA handling, extractions, and purifications.
  • Proficient with standard molecular biology techniques, such as gel electrophoresis, restriction digests and related enzymatic techniques.
  • Experience with DNA quantitation and sizing (Qubit, qPCR, TapeStation).
  • Prefer experience with nucleic acid sequencing techniques (Sanger, Illumina, Oxford Nanopore, PacBio).
  • Prefer familiarity with bioinformatics tools used for the analysis of sequencing data.
  • Prefer experience with laboratory data systems such as Laboratory Information Managements Systems (LIMS).
  • Must be able to interact effectively with peers and leaders as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Must thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, the ability to multitask and effective interpersonal and communication skills are required.
  • Documentation of analytical results in technical reports is required.

Technical Certification Bonus: Synectics is pleased to award its employees a bonus of up to $500 for an approved professional certification. In determining the bonus amount, Synectics will consider the cost of the test(s) for any certification relating to your current position, achieved during your employment with us. Only one Certification Bonus per calendar year may be awarded per employee. Only current, active employees will be eligible to receive this bonus. It will be awarded 90 days after the Synectics office has received documentation confirming the successful completion of the certification.
